Some of the grid designs look a bit like polygons of a 3D model. The designs do look pretty clean for the most part and not atrocious. The grid designs in Post #2 are very much to my liking. The ones in Post #5 are a little outlandish for me, but nothing too distracting or horrid.

I love the grid designs of Dries Van Noten the best - the accent on the black makes the design stand out.

Not all grids look good.
I love the way Dries Van Noten and Yves Saint Laurent use them in their collections :heart::heart::heart:

this was happening since fw 08 also
yohji yamamoto, marni -
i think what started is the rise in popularity for the herringbone weave
you see it bold and large in coats and now it comes as prints for t-shirts and dresses

there are so many more varieties at the resort collection
the thread is here http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f60/marni-resort-2009-a-70130-2.html
such as softer, quieter checkboard patterns
and basket-weaves that create the same grid structure

The Dries one looks good, but I love the makeup and hair wrap above all.

@gius

I am totally in love with Marni's resort.... hadn't seen it yet, thank you for posting!
:heart::heart:

And I totally agree with your comment too!
