Menswear Catwalk Trends S/S 08

haha, completely agree berlinrocks
I found a thread I posted a while ago.. It is on S/S 08 trend forecast
http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f49/trend-forecast-spring-summer-08-a-55064.html
It would be interesting to compare, although the descriptions are very vague and abstract... airy-fairy -_- but I like airy-fairy explanations
I think the first trend description makes sense. It totally suits the Marni collection

I really like the bright coloured socks and rolled up trousers however I think this will become quite tired very soon - around Brick Lane and Hoxton in London everyone is doing this.
I love the Dior shirts this season, infact I love Dior as a whole this season - not many people agree with me but I prefer their new collection to most of the Slimane stuff.

I am a bit appauled that pink has emerged again. In the pictures posted of the pink pieces I really like the Comme de Garcons jacket - I just wish it wan't pink!! Pink no matter what will always remind me of footballers and Lyle & Scott. Hideous.

^In Britain pink has been a 'lad' colour to wear over the past couple of years, its the sort of colour footballers are seen in. Like bright pink v-neck jumpers or t-shirts. In other words it has become quite chav. I've wrote an article about it on my blog which explains it a bit further. (hope thats not classed as shameless spamming. sorry if it is!!)

^I think yeah they are referring to David Hockney...
and I think they are only doing this to make their reviews seem more intelligent...

Well, last season, any primary blue was labeled 'Klein blue', so I wouldn't put
it past the press!

I didnt see much in this thread that I actually cared for. I kind of like the cropped pants.

Hammer pants are one of, if not the worst, trends this season. Thanks paul and joe.

really like it

and the Lime green shooes WOW in love wit that look

the pink trend???...ehh...seen it already...and what is up with the flip-flops?!?
what I do like is the shawl, neon color, and biker jacket look.

I'm somewhat fond of this Paul Smith cream mao suit. And certainly the shawl - is it meant for sopping up sweat? Winter goes right into summer here in Beijing.

Hmmm...... I really do loveeee the shawl collars coming back, just one of my favorite things of all time is the shawl collar blazer, and I'm sure that I'm going to spend most of my money on them this season since I haven't been able to find a good one in a long while. =P I also love the neon accent idea, I love it when things just pop like that. On the other hand, I really really hate the one shoulder silhouettes, the pink suits, hammer pants and some of the aquatic stuff (esp. McQueen, normally I love his stuff, but this season threw me off a little bit, maybe it was the models, who knows). The one-shoulders and hammer pants I hate the most though, some of the ugliest trends I've ever seen in menswear imho

Im getting over winter and am anticpating spring already.

Im getting used to the neon bits and think it might look good. Ive always loved the cropped/rolled up pant look.

I like that there is a lot of grey for Spring 08. Though I'm not too fond on the bright colors. I like the idea of the crop pant, but I know I won't be able to pull it off without looking like a douchebag. I'm already looking out for pieces for Spring.

lol, i been wearing shawls and scarves for years now already. though, i'll never do Hammer pants..... again......

I'm very okay with this.

It will take a certain kind of man. And I mean that in every sense applicable.

No. Unless you want to look like a dad who's trying too hard.
