The opening stripes section was a big missed, the rest of the collection was beautiful especially the prints. The pattern is relevant and the colors are pretty soft.

The floral she ended on looks juvenile to me, though. Not a fan.

The other prints and florals, I did like. The painted-looking orange and blue were lovely.

Tanya Taylor went through a whole lot of paint for her new Spring collection. For starters, the up-and-coming designer "got really messy" hand-painting each of the six hundred miniature canvases she sent out as invitations for her first runway show (the format upgrade was merited, after three well-received presentations). The thoughtful invites served as a fitting preview for a lineup that featured more of Taylor's proficient brushwork. A floaty organza trapeze dress splashed with a custom "scroll" print demonstrated the designer's flair for fine art. Ditto the closing series of white leather pieces hand-painted with a vibrant floral motif. Other highlights included lightweight mesh car coats and bombers appliquéd with giant blossoms, as well as nautical striped biker jackets, sweet bandeau tops, and slim pencil skirts interspersed with a rainbow of Crayola-bright streaks for added interest. Overall, Taylor kept up her winning streak—it's difficult to go wrong with youthful, uplifting clothes like these.
