Tattoos

I love tattoos. Its my obsession. If I had enough money and time I would be covered. Hopefully one day I will.

I only have four, but have planned a new one for January. I always use the same tattooist, Lianne Moule, cos I thinks she amazing and she doesnt mind my childish designs.

1. Carson Ellis' Bluebird of Happiness
2. Sufjan Stevens' song Seven Swans (drawn by Luciano Luzano)
3. HP crest (not finished, cos I cant do more than three hours in the chair)
4. 'Dad' heart and fire-doves
5. Placement

(SORRY for massive pic-spam!)

I made my own tattoos-prison style...I'm not so into the 'shaded intense' tattoo look. more simple. this one was inspired by freja beha's

^ do-it-yourself, i suppose?

i have three plain black stars on the nape, all lined up from
biggest to smallest... though im planning to get them colored
up on the edges. though as for the color or the design i haven't
any ideas yet

oh my gosh! If that's true that it's diy, weren't you scared of infections or anything??!

Verene Darwin's 4 finches from the Galapagos Island is amazing
WhiteMai Really nice well made tattoos!! Love 'em!

I think the best always its get a good tattoo artist cause if not the ink can get blurred by the time... even when we talk about a so-called tattooist... ive seen on friends some unfortunately examples... One of 'em had to cover with a bigger one but that time she had to wait to get an appointment with the right tattooist.

They should be. Even if you are working with a perfectly clean needle there's always a risk of infection. That's really tampering with your health, a staph infection can kill you.

^ And its not usually regulated ink but homemade ones (many actual prison ones are made with ball point ink and ash or melted dark colored plastics) and can have a possibility of rejection or start to be broken down by the body. It's why many "prison tats" are faded or have broken shaky lines so soon.

It cut off part of my original post!

It's why many "prison tats" are faded or have broken shaky lines so soon. Just better to do it once right with minimal touching up than over and over again to maintain a diy/prison/backyard tattoo and have the assurance that it's safe materials and wont reject and clean.

Not trying to put you down Luxi but there is a reason why it's a regulated industry like dermal injectibles, botox, etc are done by a professional to reduce risks and have a proper artistic result. Tattoo is about expression so why not get a better artistic result from a professional? Yes there are "bad" professionals out there but thats where we still have to use our head and do reasearch. We're doing something to our body and its profitable so some people go out there hoping to make money despite not being a real professional.

Other members have to at least address the issue for those new to tattoos that come on here to realize the risks involved with doing something that is meant to be done professionally at home.

It's not just staph, you can get MRSA which will also kill you, HIV, Hep C etc transmitted. Other basic bacterias that arent usually harmful when in contact with do act up when embedded along with non regulated inks can cause the trigger to an infection or the rejection of the tattoo ink or the bacteria is trying to be push out by the body, or the body can be rejecting both.

Here's an example of what can happen. This is a backyard tattoo gone bad.

Non regulated ink caused this puffing up.

Seeing the truth about what can happen to our bodies and tissue and our system if we dont make wise decisions shouldnt be something considered 'repulsive' IMO.

I thank Sephora Socialite for her post, its informative and people need to see the risk of what can happen if you dont take care of yourself.

I also love to absorb any information about diseases and disorders of the skin as I'm an aesthetician, and this interests me, so the photos dont bother me.

I entirely agree. Now we really know the dangers of tattoos when we don't research properly and extensively.
