Tattoos

I would really like to have a tattoo but I'm so scared of infected needles. Chances are small but... I know it's ridiculous

I'm sure you can watch them clean it in front of you if you are that worried. :flower: It's a legitimate scare, and I'm sure they will be understanding.

^^ Most tattoo places open new needles and all equipment right in front of you for legal reasons relating to that

^ That's true, they also sterilize the chairs, armrests, their table etc in front of you, wash their hands and put new gloves on and explain all their safety and hygienic procedures with you.........at least that's what the couple of shops I go to do.
Whatever shop you go to should also have all the certificates of their employees passing the mandatory health/contamination courses (can't remember the proper name for it)

and now - ladies and gentlemen - i had a nasty situation quite recently. i went out with a guy on a date. we were at the movies, grabbed some coffee and so on. i had a leather jacket so he didnt see my tattoo on the wrist. he asked me for the second time.. and i had a coat and a minidress.. and he noticed my tattoo in a restaurant. and you know what? he said he cant date a tattooed girl.. he payed and left me in there.

i dont know what to think. he seemed pretty laid-back and everything.. such a cool guy. and now this. i am pretty upset and dunno what to think about it. hot mess in head.

Wow. Uncalled for to have got up and left. Specially if he has gotten along with you- WTF does INK change in who a person is? he cant tolerate to just "hang out" and finish the date even if he's not romantically interested anymore? I guess some people can never get over some stupid tattoo stigma like its a bad thing that lessens us as people.

I like your tattoo and you are a good person ENHANCED by art. Dont mind someone acting ignorant. Some people are just very shallow.

A guy will come soon that will actually enjoy who you are and enjoy your tattoos too. Even lightly tatted people looked at me weird when I said I want to go from 0 ink to a partial body suit. My boyfriend encourages me to go and ink as much as I want and that it'll only make my body even more beautiful to him. He respects my tattoo history hobby and sits with me and likes to see the kinds of body art that moves me. He's inspired to get inked now too by Shige like I am hoping to.

Thats the kind of guy I hope you find. Someone who likes every part of you just as you are and supportive of your choices.

I was thinking of getting the word "Dream" in the Irish language on my arm, which is "brionglóid" but in white-ink, as it's my first tattoo. I had an idea of it going up my inner arm... Can anyone tell me if they have had any problems with white ink before? I have very pale skin...

I think the placement and color is nice if you want it subtle. White ink usually doesnt pose high irritation problems as much as other colors/types. That picture you cited is infected though and not healing properly.

Example on pale skin

Slightly darker...I heart this one!

Have 4 tats now. Both wrists have Depeche Mode lyrics. Plus one on the inside of my upper arm and earlier this month had one done placed just under the inside of the elbow. All words.

Getting 1 or 2 done next week in Berlin! Can't wait, the one I'm definitely getting done is the first image after all the lettering.

do you have pictures? would be nice to see these lyrics.. i love lyrics, handwriting and wrist tattoos

and thank you all for support when it comes to this guy who doesnt like tattoos.
he texted me a couple of times but i didnt answer. cant go on like this if he cant tolerate who i am.

really thank you.

Olga - you are better off without someone so closed minded.

good riddance

Love that tat!

Will buy a decent camera first before I post some pics, I want to do my tats justice

what do i do if the ink smears..? i have a line of script on my hip and i think due to sitting and other ways of moving that area, the ink is smudged.. ive had it for almost half a year now... when i went back into the shop about a month after i got it, my artist said it looks smudged because it's still healing.. but now its been so long and i think it will stay like this.

its fine from afar but up close, its clearly smearedd. im hoping with time itll fade a little and i can touch it up again..?

^That is so weird, I really don't think that is from how you sit, that shouldn't effect a tattoo at all (it moves with your skin) Is it smudged, or is it that the ink bled a little so the lines aren't sharp? If that's the case, then the only way I could think of that happening (other than with age) is if you picked at it or were in the sun a bunch when it was healing. The more likely thing is that maybe the artist didn't do sharp enough lines in the first place and is trying not to admit that his line work wasn't up to par. I'd say get another opinion from an artist from a different shop and see what they say.....without a picture I can't really say what might have happened.
I have tattoos on areas that bend and move around and don't have that issue at all. I've even banged my tattoos really hard (I'm a klutz) when they were brand new and it had no effect on how they healed.

i love lady gaga's tattoos, especially the one on her back. has anyone got any pictures of these or anything similar?

Here's her most obvious one that is on her upper left arm. It says this:

'In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep into your heart where it spreads its roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?'

And here's the one on her shoulder. She got it touched up with the writing while in Japan.

I haven't found any good photos of her lower back tattoo, but it seems to be the same flower idea as her shoulder.

EDIT: I wish I could see more of the back tattoo too, but it is pretty visible in many of her concert photos from under her costumes. :flower:

As a off to college present to myself I plan on getting this quote tattooed somewhere on my arm. "Il n'y a qu'un bonheur dans la vie, c'est d'aimer et d'être aimé" The only problem am having is deciding on placement. I wanted it to be like an arm band but im afraid its to long. Anyone have any cool ideas on placement?

from your description it sounds like the artist has gone too deep with the needle and caused a blow out, this makes the tattoo appear blurry/smudged

see this link http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Tattoo_Blow-out

this is in no way due to how it heals, its that the artist has gone too deep with the needle.

^ that does seem about right... doing some google work, i see it's not really fixable unless my artist works on shading? but i dont want shading =[
so you're saying my artist drove the needle too deep... could this explain why i thought it hurt so much more than my far larger piece on my ribs? haha after he did this one, i felt so light-headed and threw up.
sigh, but thank you for the info elegance! im glad you answered my question, but now if there was only a way to fix it ...

Yesterday my gf Marianne went to Salvation Tattoo to get her latest ink from Nille (who has tattooed both me and her in the past).
The motif was a custom scene portraying Snufkin and the Moomintroll on a bridge. It took about 2½ hours (not including preparations), and she was very happy with the results.

If you recognize the tree (previously done) that it joins with, it is the Tree of Gondor from Lord of the Rings.
