merged...thanks Sakina :flower:

Welcome to tFS champagne&dreams...please do a search before starting new threads...thanks

I second looking at BMEzines archives of tats...if that doesn't give you a idea then you can't be helped. There's thousands of pics...and its organized by catagory...let us know what you decide upon :flower:

im going to get a tatoo in the next year. I just decided but im a wimp when it comes to pain so we will see how I go. Most probably really low stomach on one side. Not sure of what yet. I know megan fox got a tatoo on her rib cage and I think thats really beautiful but I could never do that. I also love the
ankle
lower back
wrist (def not for me though)

so not sure where I will get one...

i have my grandparents names tattooed on my arm ( my grandma practically raised me). it is the center of my half sleeve. around it is flowers stras and music notes. i wouldnt get any one that isnt blood related to me put on my arm permanently.as far as being a biker, soldier, or an athelete i am none of the above, but ive got most of a half sleeve done, a flower on my hip, a comic book vampire on my leg, a anime girl on my forearm, and a butterfly on my back.

hmm.. I'm thinking.. like the place where your hipbone is the the frontside, that will get covered by underwear when you wear it but stil isn't your private parts if you understand.. kind of hard to explain..anyway, my friend has one there, so it's hidden all the time except for when you take your undies off

I've tried it, it covers really well, amazingly well... But my "naked" front image gets like... too poluted. But by far, is the most well rated place for the tat. thanks so much

Hm... I'm only thinking of these:

  • Hip(what therese suggested)
  • lower back (below pants line)
  • behind your ear (my friend has a tattoo here, it's cute)
  • back of your neck(when your hair's down you can't see it)
  • inside up your upper arm(saw some guy with a tattoo here.. must've hurt, but it was neat to see a tattoo there)
  • inner thigh
  • inside of ankle
  • on your wrist(can be concealed by a watch)
  • inside your lip (I know it sounds crazy, but i've seen it...)

your suggestions are too good, i alredy wrote them down. thanx A LOT. really.

Just make sure you really, really want the tattoo before you get it. Then make sure you find an artist who will make it the way you want it. There are lots of amazing, talented artists out there but they might be specialising in a style other than the one you want. For instance, don't go to an artist who specialises in fineline, photo-realistic portraits if you want a glam traditional style pin-up girl on your arm, and vice versa.

Research, research, research! That way you might not regret getting it! :flower:

i personally wanted to get a bar code (prolly at my lower back - out of the way...and I don't see it, so don't tire of it).....but was told tat over time the fine lines that make it up will spread and it becomes a big rectangle....I was also considering having it done wit flourescent ink...but in general they turn a brownish-yellow and they've been known to itch....

Hubby's a tattoo artist and most girls that gets the buttefly/chinese symbol tattooed usually do it out of convenience of being close by a tatoo shop on their night out in the city, to show off in front of friends you're hanging out with or because they just don't have any idea what they want. If you decide to get a tattoo, make sure you do it for a reason or if finally go for that butterfly, have the artist customize it for you accordingly. I have lots of tats and don't regret any of them. But each and one of them either brings back a memory or defines my personality. Hopefully, you'll think twice before getting something now. It takes time to figure out what exactly will define you for the rest of your life.

If you must get one of those designs, design it yourself, since those two are soo common. I suggest something more unique/ personalized however.

Tattoo Removal

I have a tatto on the arch of my foot (3in x 1in) of two dolphins. The colors are blue with a black outline. I just scheduled a consultation to have the tattoo removed. I really hate it :( Has any one had a tattoo removed? Does it hurt? I've been reading about fees and how many sessions it takes to remove the tattoo. I don't think I can wait a week to find out how much it's going to cost to remove this stupid thing. Also what kind of results can I expect? I know these are all questions that I should ask the Dr, and I will, I'm just looking for advice from others!

P.S. Is that considered a "big" tattoo?

I haven't experienced this myself, but I had a friend who had several removed (entire upper arm) and he said it burned like hell

I've wanted to get one of the henna-styled ones on my lower back for quite a few years now-but my dad has made it clear that he doesn't want me to get any tattoos. I might get a small one on my lower back though.

So I had someone poke me with a tattoo needle on my side/ribcage and that hurt.

I'm still going to do my tattoo though because it means a lot.

If you take something like vicodin before you get your tattoo, does that work to help with this kind of pain and are you allowed to? I know that generally artists don't want people to drink alcohol when you get a tattoo done, but I've never heard any opposition to pain killers yet. Yeah, I'm trying to sissy out of the pain, but its a huge detailed piece and I have to already deal with my phobia of needles so I think it's justified :innocent:

Sometimes taking NON asprin painkillers before can be good, but asprin and alcohol both thin the blood and make getting the tattoo a whole lot messier.

I have 3 tattoos. A scorpio symbol on my right shoulder blade (I got it when I was 16 and yes it is a little bigger than I'd like now, or too plain, but I'm getting the Scorpio constollation woven through it in white ink once I can afford it. I also have a butterfly on my hip. Not a pretty pretty butterfly, but angular, black and beautiful. It's a symbol of me, because I am in nature like a butterfly - woo, pretentiousness.. My third tat is 3 stars in a vertical line going small ->big, top-> bottom and I love them, they're beautiful, sweet and simple.

I want the afformentioned constellation and I also want the outline or impression of a cat on my spine, but not quite at the base, a little further up.

All my tats are black ink except for the planned constellation which will be white. I don't like colour in tattoos...
