Tattoos

Persephone G. a lot of different tattoos are on Miami Ink. If I got a cross, is it because I'm copying it from Miami Ink? No, highly I doubt it. I don't think it's safe to assume without saying that the ones pinksatin want are because of the show. Maybe they are personal to her, you don't know that they aren't.
:flower:

Sorry, but I'm just responding on how and what she described for a possible tattoo for her. It was just way to obvious for me. If I am wrong than I will gladly apologize.

Howeverm not that many people even know about the Hamsa in the US nor do people who live outside of Hawaiian islands want a tattoo of my home state because they like it. The thing that struck me when I read her post was "Oh, she must have seen the show." There's nothing wrong with it, but it did make me chuckle.

Persephone G. totally understand, I just didn't want there to be any false assumptions that could lead to hurt feelings and whatnot. ;)
SiennaInLondon I think it's cute but I would think it's something that you totally have to LOVE. This is because, unless you live in a cold climate and spent your life in boots, there's no real covering it up. I would image it would sometimes make shoe selection a challange.

Oh I'd never get it! I already have a foot tattoo and I dont like too many tattoos in the same place. Still I like hers everytime I see it.

^Not really, but the tattoo guy said I obviously have a high tolerance for pain because a lot of people find it painful. I don't know. It just depends on the person, I guess.

^Ok.. thank you for answering! I want to get one:)

Does it hurt to get a tattoo on your wrist?

I think it hurts to get a tattoo anywhere....

I need to stop watching INKED.....
it makes me want to go nuts with tats....sleeves and all.
I think some of those girls look so cool with all the tats but I never would....
it's just not me so I couldn't pull it off.

What do people think of the rosary around Nicole Richie's ankle. I think it is lovely whenever I see photos of her in flats but it must make wearing angle straps difficult, no?

I think Nicole's tattoo is cute, but what I think really makes it is the fact that her ankles are so darn cute. :p
She has the smallest ankles, ever.

I might try, it's in white so it won't show up. I might have one of right after I got it done and you can see the outline in red.

I think tattoos can be very beautiful, but I personally wouldn't get one.

Actually when I read your response I was at first a bit offended b/c I don't watch that show or that other one, inked. ALthough I've seen them each maybe twice but they didn't feature the tatoos I wanted. Then I had to chuckle too b/c I totally understand where you are coming from and it is quite a coincidence. No I did not get the ideas from the show though and they do mean something to me and I did get them both!:D

First I got the Hawaiian island chain on my hip and it fits very well withthe shape of that area. Just all black. ANd I have lived there for the past 3 years (on oahu). It is the first place I lived on my own w/o parents so it symbolizes more than just the islands and a place to live but also like the first time being on my own and independence and that sort of thing. Also, when I don't live there anymore I will always stilll have that on me. (Finished it it just simple solid black.)

ALso, more recently I got my hamsa. I waited longer for it b/c I wanted words around it and I had to take more time to plan it out. Islands you don't have to personalize/alter so much. that's just a map and you choose the body part. The hamsa has so many variations though so I had to find a version I liked and also decide on which words and pic a font for the hebrew and go to kinkos to cut/paste/cut/paste the letters and picture until I had what I wanted. I chose the first three words ("May G-d bless you and keep you"; transliteration: Y'varechechah adonai v'yeeshmarechah) of the priestly benediction since I like the meaning of the whole prayer and I can hear my Rabbi saying it in my head when I think of it. It give me a special spiritual feeling even though I'm overall not that religious (I wouldn't be getting tatooed probably if I was). Also I read hebrew so It's not like just a picture, it's words and meaning to me. In the middle it says "mazel" ("luck" or "good fortune", think of the toast "mazel tov" - "Good luck").

It's not the clearest pic because there is more detail in real life. Looks like filligrie (sp?) kind of. (p.s., It's centered, my skirt is just crooked!:ninja:)

source of pics: my photobucket

eta: I have hamsa's in my house too. LIke hanging in the kitchen and some necklaces. THis one is always on my though now! ;)
