Tattoos

beyond dynamite  I can't give a karma right now but that is lovely!

speaking of wrist ones... I also have a wrist/inner forearm tattoo.

It is my son's name and is a photocopy of my handwriting made into a tattoo:

^ that's really, really, really beautiful and creative, too. your own handwriting! lovely.

i love wrist tattoos.

I didnt find the ribcage pain too bad. I have two that mean the world to me. I know what you mean snejanaismymuse...people no longer think them through. Mine are full of meaning, and I've been known to make people cry when I tell them the significance, but I know people who are just getting tattoos for the reason of having one. It's actually a complete sub-cultural type thing and it is art. And if you think about it that way, artworks generally have a concept behind them. So tattoo's therefore should too!

^ i agree with you and snejanaismymuse, 100%. i don't have any tattoos myself, but if i were to ever get one, i would have to have a really big reason behind it, and a heck of a lot of meaning behind it. i would never get a tattoo at whim. that's insane. and it's really saddening that some people do. they need to remember that tattoos are for the most part permanent!

...here's my feather variation:
i'm getting some more ink on my foot in a few weeks; i'll let you know how that one pans out in terms of pain versus the ribcage & some of my other more "choice" tattoo locations. :o

Thank you for the image. :flower: It's lovely:heart:. Did you draw it or did the artist at the shop or did you find an image? Also, you about Erin Wasson's tattoo there right?

Also what are you planning for the foot?

i actually brought in a picture of an ostrich feather & told my guy i wanted it to be a little less ornate, a little tougher, a little more quill-like. and, i didn't know about erin wasson's tattoo until several months after i'd gotten it. i largely got it to pay homage to a leonard cohen song & to balance an anchor tattoo.

the next: a simple swallow on my foot with a banner reading "lux et veritas" (light & truth in latin). they're loyal, far-flying birds but always seem to make their way home. it's my version of a "mom & dad" tattoo. i'll definitely post a shot of it when it's fresh.

(also, thank you everyone for your complete & utter loveliness.)

^ the meaning behind that swallow tattoo that you want to get sounds really beautiful.

all of your guys' tattoos are so beautiful! this is such an interesting thread.

i am tattoo-less, but have been thinking about it!

^i am tattoo-less too!
but i am sure that i wanna have a small (!) tattoo on my wrist
what do you say to this? a small (black) tie:
((thats only the pre-drawing...))

^ I have a pink little bow on my wrist! :woot: I posted it a few pages back.
It's a cute idea, but a lot of people ask me why i decided to get it...

beyond dynamite your tattoo is so beautiful. I agree with you, the ribcage is not the best place to get a tattoo.. pain-wise. And please share the next one when you get it!

I actually got a feather tattoo last night on my ribcage! I guess they are all the rage right now. I love mine so I don't care! And yes, in some places it hurt like a mother, other places I could barely feel it.

I just realized i've posted a few "potential" tats - but never any of my actual ones. So here it goes.

My first "real" tattoo - the letter 3 when I was 16 (was originally just an outline but I got it filled last year.

"Balance" in Thai on my wrist - on my 18th birthday. (terrible picture of me tho - its the lighting )

My first tattoo...

n1544130046302773992113sr4.jpg

I love it and the position (b/c it's not too noticeable unless my arm is a certain way) :] I'm now considering my second one. Possibly a lightning bolt behind my ear, for Harry Potter (yes, I am a nerd :P) or something tiny on the top of my foot.

That is awesome! I love the position of it as well. And behind the ear would be super cute too. I say go for it.
