Tattoos

tattoo artists are just that...artists...if you want a butterfly they can work with you and help give you something all your own.

i designed it myself! if you look closely you can see its not quite symertical and its on lined paper! so really it is all my own.

thanks for the comments tho!:flower:

i wauld like to make tattoo in my back
so.. what you vote between:

1- butterfly
2- Chinese Symbol

thanx :)

Best descision: NONE!

I got a small Tattoo on my breast at age 16 and a larger one on my back age 18 (both are dragons).

I`m currently having the smaller one lasered off: 12 Laser-Sessions in 16 month - costed 1200 Euro already and the Tattoo (that used to cost 200 DM=100 Euro!) isn`t even fully gone yet!

Save the money & the trouble and DON`T DO IT!!!

please please please please please don't get either. First off I'm so sick of non-chinese people getting chinese characters tattooed on them. If it's so meaningful then why not get it in english (at most, Latin). Taking the chinese language and essentially objectifying it just makes the wearer look ridiculous, especially to any asians walking by.

Tattoos in the base of the back are also played out. Every girl and their mother has one and all it does is make you look cheap. A lot of girls in college are going to regret the "tribal design" they got in the small of their back in about 3 years.

If you're going for something original and meaningful, don't flip through the tattoo book at a parlor. Come up with some design of your own (NOT anything "tribal" or anything lame like that.). If you're really not sure then hell, go for a blacklight sensitive tattoo. They have the inks now (FDA approved) that are invisible in regular light, but shine real bright under blacklights and such. An interesting option for everyone.

Just please.... no more chinese characters unless you're chinese. It's like getting a tattoo of say... "love/happiness/peace/spiritual strength/god etc. etc. etc. etc." in hebrew if you aren't Jewish. It's just dumb.

My thoughts exactly!

To be honest, I wouldn't get either. Both choices are very common and cliche. Butterflies kind of remind me of pop stars like Britney Spears, and I never really got Chinese symbols. I bet people wouldn't write "beautiful" or "mysterious" on their backs, but once it's translated into Mandarin it's cool?

Actually to be really honest, you should ask yourself if a tattoo is really a good idea. Before you get a tattoo you should ask yourself a few questions...

How am I going to feel about this when I'm 60?
What do I do if the ink fades or my skin stretches and the tattoo turns into a purple blob?
Do I have a job or will I ever have a job were tattoos are frowned upon?
and most importantly...
Is what I'm permanently marking on my body something meanigful, or just something I think is trendy or cool?

I want a little sea dragon for my ankle ... if anyone has nice pics, please post!

I have this design on my right inner forearm and love it. I had the picture on my wall for months until i decided to get it and i'm so glad i did.

It's a piece of artwork by my favourite artist-Jason Sho Green. He's amazing and gave me permission to use his design.

I have three others but no photos. I'm gettin two of them covered up though as i got them too young and regret them now. Lesson for us all there !!

my friends boyfriend has a little alien looking thing "mowing the lawn" right around his "pubic area". lol i thought it was pretty funny! :)

i really love that design lexatron!
i wish i was brave enough to get a tatoo, but being as fickle as i am i know i would regret it.

I always thought that, if i really wanted a tattoo - then I could wait until i found something I loved, and knew I could live with.

I found it, in a tattoo shop in a Northwestern neighbourhood of Amsterdam....
it was all black ink - an african tribeswoman - drawn out very long and think...sort of liquid-like..
anyhow, long story short - i couldn't afford it at the time.

I kick myself to this day - i think of it often and cannot find anything REMOTELY similar.

If anyone at TFS is living in Amsterdam right now, I would be forever indebted if someone could help me retrieve this picture... ;)

lexatron, that design is gorgeous.

I'm getting a red and henna coloured vine that i designed tattoo'd up my left side (from above my hip to just bellow my left breast) in a month or so, i've only drawn out an outline so far and am going to get my tattooist to help me tidy the design up a bit and make it look perfect!

I like your design cowboy boots, even though butterflies are pretty common these days, your design is different and of course its your very own design which makes it special!

i have only one. my daughter's name , "Reborne Perfection" in Arabic (i am muslim by birth). On the lower base of my spine I might add, which hurt as hell. i was due on within a week as well. Bad mistake. Do not ever get a wax or tattoo when you are due on. Back to the tat! i originally planned on getting 'branded' but getting a branding is not easy around here so it was easier to get a tattoo.

Tattoos

I’m still in shock but my fiancé walked through the door about one hour ago with a new tattoo. Turns out he had my name tattooed on his chest. This is his second tattoo (the first being a decorative cross on his inner forearm. He says he’ll have his children’s names added when we have babies.

I don’t know what to think of this. It used to be only bikers and soldiers that used to do it but I suppose it has become more of a trend since David Beckham did it with his children’s names although I don’t know if he has Posh’s name on him.

Has anyone on here had their significant other’s name tattooed on themselves? Or is your name tattooed on someone else?

I’m in shock still.

BTW My fiance isn't a soldier, biker or professional soccer player!

oh Lord.. girl  :flower:

you have me laughing over here...!
not at you, of course...
i can just imagine the SHOCK...!

i can't say i've been in your shoes in this case...
though my significant other and i used to joke as we passed tattoo parlors that the only tattoo we would ever get would be of eachother's names... or something little that only the two of us share...

i could never go through with it...
something permanently etched into my body isnt so much my style...
but i do understand loving someone to pieces..
so much so that you would be out of your mind enough to ink them into your skin...!

Yikes

Personally, I don't like "significant other" tattoos. My brother got his ex-fiancée’s name tattooed on his back...they broke up. I just don’t get it...but whatever tickles your pickle :p

And to answer your questions: No, I don't have any tattoos - names or otherwise. And no one has my name tattooed on them...at least not to my knowledge :p

You're having the same reaction that my best friend had. She said that "although its a bit intimidating, it also shows that he's that much in love with me and has the intention of being with me forever."

It's cute/romantic at the same time kind of creepy. To top it all of he's so proud of it and showing the neighbors.

He's lucky I only have a 3 letter name. I could imagine how painful it was for his friend to have "Maria Adamantia" tatooed on his chest.

ok, just found out his father has his mom's name. His cousin says its a latino thing. I'm ot that shocked any more.

Although I hope he doesnt wake up tomorrow morning and think "oh my god hat did I do?!"
