Tattoos

Tattoos

How do you feel about them?

Do you like them or do you hate them?

I want to get my arms fully tattooed (no color, just green ink). I now I will have a VERY VERY VERY (etc....) hard time convincing my mom to get mine done.....

But I know what I am going to tell her : I know you won't like it, but I'd rather be honest with you by discussing this with you, I am getting it done. I want to say it to you this way directly, I do not want to get it done in your back without you knowing. I am mature enough to realise the consequences of my actions. I know it will be a big mess btwn us when I'll get it done, but I'd rather have you yell at me, not talk to me for years, that not being to do something I've always dreamed of. The advantages of doing something I want for myself, are much more gigantic than the problems I'll have with you later on......

i really like them. i have two. one of them is like a 'friendship tattoo' if u may say. me and my friend have the same tattoo, in the same place.
once i got the first one i started thinking what i wanted the next time..now i have a few 'proyects' on mind

I really like Brandon Boyd's tattoos, I want to get only one arm done, and not fully (I hate COLORFUL tattoo SLEEVES :ninja: )...... I don't like Brandon Boyd's tattoo designs, but the way they are spread on his arm is very nice.

I really like Brandon Boyd´s tattoos too! :D...he´s so cuuuttte!!! ;)
I read somewhere that he designed the tattoos he has. I really like the one in red ink.

Although i like to see tattoos on others i don´t think i would have the courage to do one because the lifetime commitment of them is too much for me. But if i would ever get one it would have to be with a totally original drawing. I really don´t like the rose, dolphin and butterlfy etc, cliches.

One thing that annoys me about tattoos is people who just put whatever on...they get something off the wall for instance!....Do you really want to have someone elses tat?...

GO CUSTOM. ALWAYS.

People also who get the "trendy" tats....eastern characters without knowing the meaning or that its a correct translation (example- britney with her mysterious japanese character which really was more like weird/peculiar ). Japanese tats when they have no clue the tradition of the irezumi tattoo...some idiot was going about and didn't know his shoulder tatoo is patterned after a yakuza gang member symbol. Disrepectful to the Japanese gang and also the history of his other tattos (he had a Noh Drama actor and called him a samurai  ) I don't blame that some are really pissed off about this. Don't get me wrong though...it's just as bad for a ignorant Japanese to sport their irezumi even though its of the culture. It's a right you have to earn not a privilage. To get a proper one you have to go to a master horishi in japan and do a lot of convincing to get them to tattoo you.

I'm not saying you have to go to those lengths if it has certain origins like the japanese characters....have some respect for the culture youre borrowing from and for your body to research a bit into what you're tatooing. Also get something meaningful to you.

Sorry...lately I've been over stressing about tattoos...someone annoyed me a few days ago with their ignorance...

Right now I'm looking into my tattoo....it'll be painful and I'm scared of needles, but its something that means a lot to me...I'm looking into finding the right tattoo artist...I've been looking for about a year. Then I'm sure I'll be very precise with how he sketches my concept before we do it permanently.

kimkhuu its really nice you want to be upfront about it to your mother. I think if its something you really want and it means a lot for you to do it... don't skimp out on it because of another person, even if its someone as highly as your mother. No disrespect to her, I'm just saying that its your body and if it brings you happiness, I'm all for it:flower:

...people, don´t feel tempted to take a look at the darkest part of this site!!!
I did it some time ago and it´s simply....  :yuk: :yuk: :ninja:

i have six tattoos and plan to get more. the "what about when you're older" argument doesnt bother me. when i'm 65 i'll be..65 with tattoos. so what? i dont think at 65 its something i'll really care about, i'll probably be more interested in playing with my grandchildren, and if someone doesnt like that i'm 65 and have tattoos, thats THEIR problem. all my tats have meaning, are special to me, and were custom. one of my faves is my nirvana tattoo (for those who know the band, its the yellow smiley face). it says nirvana to ppl who know nirvana..to those who dont, its just a yellow smiley face :)

in a few months after i save up some money (just blew all my disposable income on a Balenciaga bag) i'll have my wrist tat added to some more :)

i love tats when ppl put some thought behind them..when they do it because it means something to THEM. when theyre just doing it to be cool or trendy, it always shows, and those ppl are usually the ones who regret their tats and/or get them lasered off. i'm totally happy with mine, but even if one day i wasnt, it wouldnt be that big a deal, because at one point i DID like it. theyre like a map, a history of my life, like my scars are. i wouldnt trade my scars, because theyre part of who i am. i wouldnt trade my tats, either :)

i was tempted to take a look at "the darkest part of the site" a while back. i found it quite interesting, if not all to my personal taste. different strokes for different folks.

yeah it is abit extreme but for general info on tat's its great i've learnt not to stumble into those areas of the site which are too extreme for my liking and if i do i quickly hit the back button!

I say don't ask peoples opinions about getting a tattoo..cause it will always be biased. Those that say no are the type that generally wouldn't ever get tattoos in the first place, and you know what those with tattoos would say. But I would always ask a person with tattoos about what would look good and about where to get them.

Don't listen to those that ask the tired question "But would you want them when you're 80?"

Your body ENTIRE body won't look the same when you're 80, a tattoo in my opinion wouldn't matter anyway. And I personally would be showing off mine when I'm 80, to let everyone know how freaking cool I was (and still am)

Look at it this way..

When you're 65, will you want a huge visible tat on your arm?

I've never seen a good tat on a 70 year old. What used to be a cute dolphin, is now Shamu the whale :ninja:

but at 70, does it really matter?

I agree with sephora ... my first tattoo is my best friend's last name -she happens to be japanese- so it gets "mixed up" with all those japanese character tattoos ... some people see it and ask what does that mean? And I say "Ayukawa", they're like "What?" and I explain its my best friend's last name and that I placed it in my foot cuz she thinks feet are the most disgusting thing ever and how badly I miss her, etc...etc ...

I know I broke a cardinal rule by putting someone else's name on my skin, but it's not that big and I do not regret it at all ... its been 5 years now. :p

i have one of those "lower back tattoos".. but honestly.. where else would i get it if I wanted to have a professional career... ?

I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthdya... then i got a second when was 20... then.. i go my third tattoo that connected the first two about a year ago.

I like my tattoo a lot.

Well...it means something to you. I think it's stupid when its something like a boyfriends name...or hell even a husbands name at times when you know its a rocky thing. But it seems this person is someone who means the world to you and that is not going to change...it's actually sweet you tattoed a piece of her onto you to be around with you forever.:flower:
