Tattoos

I'm out of karma but... thanks to both of you! It's very special to me. my grandfather and I used to read this book all throughout my childhood. I loved it and I love him and wanted to make a tribute to him.

also I forgot to say before... my uncle owns a tattoo shop, which is how I got it at a young age, if anyone is wondering.

Wow, Inaya! That's a gorgeous tattoo! I love Shel Silverstein - he was one of my favorite childhood authors! :) Great story behind it, as well.

Inaya that's such a cute tattoo
beyond dynamite i'm love with you newest ink. It's so simple & moving at the same time

does anyone know whether it hurts alot to get a tattoo on your foot and wrist?

It definitely hurts on your foot because the skin is so tight and thin..i would imagine it's the same for wrists

^i've been thinking of putting one on the wrist if ever i decide to get one  thanks for telling me that!

They are also boney places and I have heard that it hurts more on bone.
Also, I don't think the thin skin on feet holds ink well....
my friend got a tattoo on her foot not too long ago and it's already looking a bit faded.

beyond dynamite I really like how yours came out. And you have nicely kept toenails ;).

and Inaya very cute but also original. It's hard to think of things that are both personal and original. I know that doesn't make sense but most things are a symbol of something or represent the same sort of things for a lot of different people so a lot of tattoos get repeated. Yours I've never seen on anyone though.

And re: pain, I think a tattoo hurts no matter where it's done, some places more than others yes, but people have different thresholds of pain so it would be hard to tell you ahead of time how much it's going to hurt for the people asking. If it's something you really want you will just have to bite the bullet.

Thanks so much everyone

and I agree with pinksatin on the pain issue. everyone has a different threshold for pain. Personally, it hurts me more if it's on a place with no bone (meaning soft skin or worse... veins), but for some people it's the boney areas which hurt. I guess the best way is like pinksatin said, to bite the bullet... and just keep in mind that it's a small period of time/pain for something that will be there forever :)

I think tattoos fading on the feet are a case basis. I have a tattoo around my ankle and trailing down to the top of my foot and it has yet to blur or fade in any way...

Obviously tattoos are going to hurt directly on bone. But the feet don't really hurt.

thank you for all of your sweet feedback.

so, clearly i can't speak to the longevity of my foot tattoo (as it's only a week old), but i'm happy to give my input about the pain:

certainly, i agree with others that one's perception of pain & tolerance of pain is wildly individual. with that being said, i was surprised by how doable this location is. i can tell you from my experience that the ink hurt more as it got closer to my ankle. honestly, however, the worst part about getting a tattoo on your foot is the natural inclination to tense or pull away when hit with the needle & the need to constantly remind yourself to stay still, relax the muscles in your foot that you never noticed until someone was tattooing it.

this tattoo was my 4th & about a 3/10 to 5/10 on the pain scale. in my own personal ranking system: my pelvis was the least painful, the ribcage was the most painful, & the hip & foot were pretty comparable.

guys, thanks for sharing your tattoo experience. i've been thinking of getting one (on the wrist) but i'm very skinny and i think the skin on my wrist is very thin :(

^^^^ I say, just do it :p

My next one is going to be on my wrist, and I imagine it will hurt a bit, but I want it and have wanted it for so very long that I'll put up with it. My back tattoos were actually rather ... not pleasant, but almost soothing in a way. That's probably weird, but oh well. However, my belly ones? Good lord, I thought I was going to burst into tears.

oh i wanna get one on my wrist to :) i think i wud put up with the pain even tho i hate needles.
