Ok ok, so I'm going to get my tattoo I wrote about earlier. But, in Sanskrit writing. This also because I'm really interested in the Buddhist philosophy and I really like that writing.
Does someone know a source where I can find the correct translation of the word 'Integrity' in Sanskrit? There's no such thing as a dictionary for the language I think. When I search on the internet, I find different writing (yeah, duh, every meaning has a differend writing). I don't want to be the next kid with the 'Engrish' tattoo.

Pffff... Everyday since I made my appointment, I can't make up my mind of what I want to get. My best friend has a whole sleeve on his arm, that tells his life story. Every time when something important has happened, he adds a tattoo.
I really love that idea and I think I might steal it. I don't think that a lettering tattoo will fit in nicely. I was checking out the Sanskrit writings and they don't look that good to me. I like Tibetan script better, but they don't have a word like 'integrity', only 'honesty'.
Now I was thinking to get a lotus flower on my arm. A flower in bloom does pretty much represent the same thing as I wanted my "integrity" tattoo to be. But I'm not sure! Do you people think it might be to feminine? I'd like to have it something like this:

in my opinion, no tattoo could be called too feminine and masculine. i think the meaning of the tattoo to you is what's more important. so if you're planning on getting it and it means a lot to you, go for it! :flower::heart:
 
Yeah, I don't know, I mostly just really like it. It also has a meaning for me though.
Anyways, I'll just post a picture when I got one, I'll probably change my mind again later this week :D.
 
I think there are no such things as feminin tattoos, it´s just how the drawing is may let it look feminin.
 
I've seen a lot of lotus flower tattoos incorporated into sleeves on men that don't look feminine. Its all about the meaning to the person getting the tattoo.
 
your tattoo doesnt have to have a meaning. that's just a BS excuse for getting one.

why cant people assume their frivolity and admit they liked the design

^ Even tattoos based on aesthetics should have some thought in it. Whether or not it has a symbolic meaning, you got to think if its the right tattoo for you.


Just think about it PeaceandPout. You can always add more things later if you do like so many things, but at least try to focus on an element that feels right to tattoo now.

...really if you like writing and like flowers, you can always integrate ideas together. Im getting a lotus with some tibetan scripture that reminds me of the teachings I learned on the open petals. One friend has script that the filling of it is small flower prints on the captial letter and the flowers come out of the letter and wrap around the lowercase part of the word. :flower:

I don't get what the point is of getting a design you've seen somewhere or something everyone else has. Sure stars and sparrows look cute but I guarantee you can find thousands of people with almost the same exact tattoo, if not that same tattoo. Just my opinion.:innocent:
 
^true that. I've rarely seen designs I've liked on others... therefore if I would get one, I'd make it totally unique to me.

im in the process of getting quite a few sailor jerry style traditional tattoos i love the look of them and yes alot of people will have similar pieces but i draw all the designs myself and they are mostly linework and beautiful grey shading.

i already have the traditional heart shaped padlock and key, one on each of the inside of my arm just above the elbow, not as obvious a place as you'd think because unless i walk around with my arms up in the air you really dont see them.

I totally made up my mind on what I'm getting. I'm getting a full back tattoo of the church on the island of Kizhi. I'm not a religious person at all, but I find Russian Church architecture to be beautiful. Then, below the church its going to be weeds and long grass with animals like foxes and bunnies. The whole tattoo isn't going to be a realistic tattoo, but more cartoony.

I want to get it by the tattoo artist Jesse Smith, but it could take some time because he is located on the West Coast (I'm in the midwest), it costs over 6,500 and the waiting list is a year long.

This is a piece of Jesse Smith's work...it's absolutely breath taking in my opinion.
