Teach me your language I teach you mine

Thank you guys for answering and thank you moderators for putting this in an appropriate theme.:flower:

The thing is that I have to translate from my mother tongue into English: it says: place, 25. 5. 2006,
but I am not exactly sure how you guys would write this, so that it would be somewhat similar to our habits, but still something that is used in your countries of course.

Is your question answered already, Lina5^?

I have a question about French...
How do I say "far right"?
For example The girl at the far right wears a red dress
(speaking of a picture/photo)

????

^ i'm not french.. but maybe fond?
i could be really wrong though :p

^^ Maybe I can help.
Far is translated to French as "loin" but I guess you want to know the girl in the right corner or the girl which is totally in the right side. So I guess the sentence would be " La fille au coin droit porte une robe rouge"

I need some homework help involving German, Russian, and French, please! :ninja: If you speak any of those languages, please translate this sentence for me: "War of the Worlds radio broadcast frightens listeners."

I'm learning Russian and have a rough idea of what it may be in that language, but I'd like a perfect answer. It's for a newspaper headline, if that helps.

I'd like the answers ASAP, please!

gius I'd say "située complètement à droite".

this is good... but a bit familiar....
but it's ok...

you can say, too :

"War of the Worlds radio broadcast frightens listeners."
L'émission radiophonique (or l'émission de radio) La guerre des Mondes terrorisent (or fait peur aux) les auditeurs.

p.s : aux = à les ... so do not write fait peur aux les auditeurs. but just aux auditeurs....

I have something to ask for danish people.... or any scandinavian who could help me a little to understand this danish text....

hi, does anyone know if there is a site where i can type in french words and there would be voice clips that say the words out so we can hear the pronunciation??

Could someone translate this instruction? It's Swedish:

1. Två rektangelformade tygbitar i stel bomullsväv.
2. Lägg ihop de två tygbitarna.
3. Sy raksöm 1 cm frånkanten i båda kortsidorna. Nu borde tygbitarna sitta ihop. Om du har gjort rätt vill säga.

18. Stryk kjolen lite och klipp bort eventuella trådar, sen - voila! Klar!

I know it's a lot to translate but the online translator is crap and I'd really love to sew this skirt ^_^

who speaks russian?!?!?!

U NEED HELP ASAP.

-Bedroom
-Toilet
-Dining Room
-Sitting Room
-Kitchen
-Balcony/Garden

In russian! please.

I'm pretty sure these are correct. ;) If not, please make necessary changes!

Bedroom - Спальня (spal'nya)
Toilet - Туалет (tualet)
Dining room - Столовая (stolovaya)
Kitchen - Кухня (kukhnya)
Balcony - Балкон (balkon)
Garden - Сад (sad)

I don't know about sitting room, sorry.

seanutbutter
correct!
Kushie
what do you mean by sitting room? if it is what i think it is then гостиная (originated from guest room but has another meaning)

sometimes i would avoid saying столовая for dining room. it is a correct translation BUT if you're speaking of a room in your house then it's not столовая. in russia 99% of people eat in a kitchen, no special room. when we say столовая we usually mean the dining room in a college campus, working building or such. and actually i dont think we have a word for a room in your house where you eat, at least i do have this kind of room but i call it kitchen.

if you like you can add me on gtalk or any other msging service and i'll help you with your studies.

laurette, here's your translation, the words that are bold are words that maybe are not the exact match:

Okay, now it's done (although a little long perhaps, i'll hem it), so here I'll pass a description on this very, very easy made skirt. I'm even so pedagogy that i'll show pictures of the whole procedure. Or well, it's mostly so I won't have to write as much :)

1. Two rectangle shaped bits of fabric in stiff cottonweave. 100x42(cm) will fit you with the waist at 60 cm and wants it 36 cm long when it's done (the width will be wished length + 6 cm).
2. Put together the two fabrics.
3. Sew with straightseam(normal seam) 1 cm from the edge of both shortsides. If you've done right that will say.
4. Zig-zag or overlock the edges together and around the whole overedge.
5. Now you're going to do a channel at the top where the coil will be in later.
Fold down 4 cm of the overedge and pin it.
6. When you're done with that, it should look like this.
7. Iron it since it'll be easier to sew later.
8. Sew around the whole overedge, about ½ cm from the edge.
9. Now you're going to do a doublehem (or what it's called) on the lower part. It'll make the skirt more "flowy". Start with folding it up 1 cm.
10. And then 1 cm more, so that the cut edge now will lay under if you understand what i mean.
11. Why don't you pin! That's what you'll do the whole long lowerpart.
12. Iron some.
13. Sew with straightseam around the whole lowerpart.
14. Now you'll slit open the inside of the upper hem, in the middle of the channel, at the side. Do it on the side that will later be inwards. Slit it so you'll fit the coilband.
15. Put on a safetypin on the coilband and slip it in. Then you'll slip it around the whole channel so that it'll come out in the same hole you put it in. Then you'll sew it together.
16. Now it should look like this! Fix the wrinkles so that they're even.
17. Sew the income hole of the channel by hand. Improvise just a little, it wont show later anyways. The most important thing is that it wont break.
18. Iron the skirt a little bit and cut out eventual threads, then - voila! Done!
