that sheen/glow on the body

the most common humectants are honey and glycerine, basically a humectant draws moisture into the skin, in soap it draws the shower water and steam in, and in a moisturizer it draws in moisture from the air, water in the moisturizer, and what water is left on your skin post shower, thats why i never fully dry off from my shower, i drip dry while i apply products to my face and then blot lightly and apply my moisturizer, oils and butters which are emollients seal in the moisture and soften, i like to be glowy but not shimmery thats why i use this routine rather than glitter and bronzers, i think it looks natural and healthy like you were in the tropics, not you were in vegas ( nothin wrong with that just not my look )

ohh. which brand of shea butter is good? i know some are rather oily  any brand that you use, non-oily, and easy to absorb? thanks.

you can try kiss my face lavender and shea butter lotion available at whole foods ( light end of the spectrum and cheap for such a big container but still really effective ), any scent of the body shop butters ( not as much in the container and pricier but its so rich you only need a lil ), or korres gauva body butter ( this is my favorite and of course the most expensive but it has the perfect smell and consistency and i would use one tube per shower if i could ), the key when looking at store bought shea butter products is to avoid ones with mineral oil and other no-no ingredients cause the shea butter itself should melt into the skin but alot of companies use cheap fillers cause shea butter is trendy, natural oils are a good addition to shea butter as well as aloe vera and glycerine

so i should say more about natural oils, when i say natural oils i am referring to oils extracted from plant materials, this is different than essential oils which are aromatic and carry the "essence" of the botanicals they are extracted from, common natural/plant oils are jojoba ( my favorite cause it absorbs in the best and is close to our own natural oil and it is very light, it is considered a liquid wax actually and is extremely softening and glow giving you only need a few drops per limb ), coconut ( good too and if you get virgin coconut oil it has a soft coconut scent ), avocado, almond, olive ( nice but strong smell ), sesame ( same as olive ), hazelnut ( yummy ), sunflower, etc., i like to use jojoba or coconut and add an essential oil for scent, my favorites to add are ylang ylang ( so very sexy, it was in instyle as being the most sexy exotic scent, when i wear it i always get curiousity and compliments ), rose, jasmine, lavender, sandalwood, orange blossom, amber but the possibilities are endless, then you can add vegetable glycerine for the humectant properties, you can also just buy a massage oil blend from the health food store and the dry oil sprays from the body shop are good too

Somebody mentioned Nivea before. I think it doesn't give much glow, but a little, very little tint of glow..
Basic body lotion and bronzer is a good idea. ^_^

is l'occitane shea butter good???

as for jojoba oil, which brand is good? as in, for the glow effect i need to get the pure jojoba oil?

l'occitane shea butter is ok

for jojoba oil dessert essence and aura cacia are good and yes pure jojoba oil is best, i'm sure some oil blends are ok but i cant vouch for one specifically

I have the same skin tone as Rhianna and I use Dove's energy glow lotion which gives me that really healthy glow all over.

I use hei poa body oil for legs and arms and what not. And palmers body shimmery lotion stuff or benefits flamingo fancy on my face.

Cocoa butter also works, I use that sometimes, but I love my Shea butter. Also being happy generally helps give off a glow not to sound corny or anything.

Palmers Cocoa Butter formula have a great product called Body Glow and it gives a really lovely sheen. Cheap too!

Thanx for the review Lara, I'm huge fan of Palmers products in general but I've never tried the Body Gloss.

Body Bling by Scott Barnes will absolutely give you that sheen. I have it and it's pretty amazing. The only bad thing is- it gets everywhere. You have to wash your hands afterwards otherwise your palms will look like that. You also have to be careful not to get it on your clothes. But it's definitely an effective product.
