You don't own a button-front shirt  Are you sure?

i have one navy men's button-front that is big and baggy. oh, and i have one black short-sleeve silk button front shirt, but i definitely don't own a white button-front. it's easily possible to not have any.:D

I believe I own, at last count - gulp - three white button-down shirts. And, uhhh, I actually wear them. The worst part is, I don't even work in an office. I'm INFERIOR!!! Can I still be allowed to participate in this thread? Please? I swear on Elsa Shiaparelli's grave that I am an otherwise pretty fashion-forward person, white button-downs be damned. No, really. I am.

 I haven't found a way to wear it in an interesting way yet. I'm a fan of rolled-up sleeves...otherwise I'm clueless. I did wear bf's blue shirt this summer, that was lovely.

^ I have that problem. They fit on the bust and look out of shape everywhere elseo.
Especially with jackets... someday i will have them tailor made.

That is true... I'm not that busty so I tend to forget breasts can pose a problem with clothing :flower:

Me, too. I nearly flat. I'm reminded of when an E! reporter asked Erin Wasson if bras were necessary under her cleavage-baring tees, and she advised him to ask someone else, because she really couldn't relate to the issue.

i'm not fashion forward... is this thread about being that?:lol:

i'm not going to repost these, but these are my attempts with the white button down #26248
i notice in my post i say that i love this shirt... i guess i like that it fits well and the cloth is really nice. but love is too strong a word.

As of yesterday, I (re)discovered my Perfect White Button Down. I'll call it my ersatz Kate Hepburn classic. Its origin...my old school uniform! :ninja:

I wore it much the way Amywilliams did in that photo, with black skinny jeans, black wedges, and a large pearlescent cuff. I think it works.

i have purchases to add!

_5632503.jpg

nordstrom.com - silk phillip lim tee

br606708-00p01v01.jpg

bananarepublic.com - black cardigan (i took all of your sweater advice and went with merino wool)

erez

jcrew.com - jersey knit cigarette pants

very nicely done.
yes, i have to say, for my style/clothes, my chest "size" suits me perfectly.

Agreed!
Tops in my wardrobe are often..slouchy.. perhaps low cut..or semi sheer and I know that it would not work if I had a larger chest
.^_^

Tomato
: I really love the meri wool cardigan and the cigarette trousers..great 'basics with a twist'

They really don't work that well with larger chests:angry: It can be frustrating being limited by your body shape, not that I would change what I have I am very happy.

I don't think Its bad to wear white button down shirts I just think its funny that its usually one of those "classic"items that your meant to need to be able to build a perfect wardrobe.

The classic items that I probably buy every year, and need to work my wardrobe around are:
-new good quality coat
-cardigans
-jeans
-loads of tees
-striped dresses and tops
-black boots

i also dont have (and dont need) white buttondown shirt. oh sorry, actually i do have two... one is a memory-shirt that i kept for the sake of the sweet memory, another is a Vnecked white shirt with 3/4 sleeves. there's no button in front (zipper on side), so no peeking bra :D

quick question: since my clothes are mostly neutral color, i need to inject some color to it. what do u think of pairing those with bright / jewel toned nail polish? is it 'enough' color? i tried lipstick, but they faded :D

^ yes, floodette, i think that is an excellent idea! i have a very neutral wardrobe color palette also, i wear large amounts of black, grey, and military green. most of my jewelry items are simple gold or silver. the color in most of outfits comes from scarves and my nail polish.

I lost my perfect gloves :( and it has just gotten cold! I think this is one of the first pieces for this Winter that is driven by need not desire, oh dear.
