^Very pretty, I love anything moon-inspired.

Re: the book thing, you're right, Ta-ta, as with clothes, it's great to pass them on to people who will cherish them more than me at this stage in my life. But I have such a hard time parting with books, even if I don't appreciate a book overall or outgrew it, I often get attached to certain passages. I tear out images and articles I like from magazines and newspapers before I throw/give them away, but you can't do that with books...I really ought to invest in a scanner or photocopy machine.

Milfbutsingle, this is really simplistic advice, but you could take a read-through of current and upcoming magazine issues. Because of the recession, they are rife with articles/editorials about how to make the most of what you already have. Perhaps not high-fashion mags, like Vogue, but Lucky, Glamour, Instyle etc.

^ So, as Veda says, you are a fire sign just like us ;) (I'm a Leo.) This means that black is not going to feed your energy--just the opposite. (Black represents water.) .

Very interesting! Which colors would work for a Libran??:flower:

I also find that there are stages in life where certain colors attract/repulse you very strongly. The differences are so clear, it's fascinating...I wish I knew what those changes might signify.

Veda, yoga, Brahms, brown rice tea and hot baths sound perfect!

Milfbutsingle, I find that winter is more difficult achieving outfit variety. It can get torturously boring wearing the same coat/jacket daily, but when it comes to paring down one's wardrobe, one only needs so many thick sweaters, coats and jackets. They some of the more expensive wardrobe items, plus they take up loads of space. There's only so much interest you can add with hats & scarves.

^ GasolineRainbow, if you're still attached to a passage in a book, I'd think you should keep it :flower:

Melisande, what's your element in Eastern astrology? (I know I can depend on you to know this ^_^) I have no idea what color air is  As far as attractions to certain colors, I've read that it has to do with your aura. I remember reading once that an author had everything in purple for awhile because she was "stacking it into her aura." (The same author says that shopping while your aura is "off" causes you to buy weird clothes that never seem right again. I don't know much about auras, but I can attest to the rest of it being true.) My understanding is that purple is a very spiritual color. My sofa where I read & meditate is purple. In any case, though, it seems reasonable to correlate these changes with your journey and personal growth.

I never get bored with my coats (2), but maybe it's because I live in a warm climate and don't wear them much? Is a Burberry trench not the backdrop to everyone's life? ;)

PS I like the dress, Belowen ... silver tights maybe?

hebden i love piles. ;)
fashionista-ta what works for me doesn't have to work for you.

Thanks for your advice guys! I agree that winter clothes can take up a lot of room, but luckily I don't really like sweaters too much. I only seem to wear/buy cardigans, knits, turtlenecks, and just a lot of layering items. Today I did wear an outfit that I through together and it gave me a burst of confidence that made me excited to start wearing more of the clothes I have! Im really going to try and use the French mentality. I even took both my credit cards out of my wallet and hid them in my drawer:shock:We will see how that goes.

^ Yay, how exciting! :woot:

Btw, we have a Does This Work? thread if you ever want to post pix of outfits you're trying out.

I did the same thing. I'm living on a budget and I'm loving it. ^_^

ta-ta I guess this clutter guru and I think alike. I do the same thing with my books. I like having a well-edited library of only what I love. I trade the rest at the used bookstore and save up my credits for something special.

But anyway, with my clothes, I am kind of torn between having a small wardrobe or one with more options. sometimes I think I have too many clothes and sometimes I think my options are too limited. Actually, I think that's the answer: I want more options, with the same or fewer clothes. I guess I need to mull this over.

^ Maybe what you want is more accessories ;) Often I will build an outfit around statement shoes.

I have been wearing a default look for a while now.. it is really too cold to do anything else.. lots of black and usually a 'statement' jacket..:p

I would like to get a new scarf, but since I already got one from zara earlier this season, I can't help but think that should be enough, and I rarely do find exactly what I am looking for either.

But still.. I love scarves..

... I need to push myself this season to not end up with the same looks in my wardrobe... there are just certain items that I am always drawn to.

:innocent:

^ Maybe you are meant to be a uniform person? ;) You know what they say, if you can't fight 'em, join 'em ... this is my attitude to my hair

I am a uniform person too...and I found some nice pieces ^_^

Leather jacket and dress from asos.com

These are things that I can put on without thinking too much about it and still feel good...I want to get the dress in grey too (for summer) but I'll probably find something similar in an actual store. I hate online shops who use GLS, it was such a hassle to get a hold of my package

PS: I need a haircut. :D

That jacket looks splendid The Ida! Very Rick Owens!

I never bought from Asos but you make me want to have a look and order that item!

I can relate with the uniform discussion. This Winter, my office look relies on my trusted wool knit dresses, ribbed knit tights, knee high boots /low-boots uniform.

It's a bit conservative = boring but a)I work in a law firm, b) it's warm, this Winter is so cold and c) it's a no-brainer.

I just accessorize with scarves, jewels and bags.

I am a "uniform" dresser too - at the moment always Acne jeans, Chloe flat equestrian boots, C&C classic tank and a Prada silk & cashmere cardi in a neutral colour - black, greys, dark navy, military green...topped off with a vuitton leopard shawl and a coat I'm good to go up or down town....

In warmer weather... which has been a bit elusive for the past couple of years both in London and Paris...its again always jeans and an Chloe sleeveless blouse in either black, white or nude silk and Lanvin ballet flats.

I've only been happy to wear a dress in July/August in Arizona! Its simply too cold for me to wear dresses most places especially London even in the so-called height of summer!

^That sounds really nice and simple... Simple is only good with quality pieces, esp the shoes.

Aby asos has some very lovely things once in a while, but a lot of it is crap :ninja: I buy their leather or cotton stuff because it's cheap and actually really nice, but stay away from anything jersey or polyester...the clothes aren't all well made, and it really shows on jersey.

i just got a tailor shorten lots of my dresses (and bottoms). they look more 'me' now.

i must have evolved somehow, since i used to hate showing my legs :P
