The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #3

Okay, I'm trying to make a first attempt for a Spring/Summer list now. It might slightly change when my January item is decided.

I'll try to continue with my one item per month and two to three additional items during sale strategy, which makes about eight items a season.

So here is my list:
  • A clutch for parties/going out/weddings etc. There are so many great clutches out there but this one should be versatile. I'm thinking metallic or nude.
  • A sandal with a slight wedge or heel, confortable enough to be worn a whole day... Again, I'm thinking metallic.
  • A long-sleeved silk blouse. Possibly with a simple print.
  • A dress. I'll totally try to continue with my one dress per season strategy to enhance my dress wardrobe.
  • Trousers for work......... Again on my list. Brown, grey, camel or possible navy. HAVE to get some trousers finally... :innocent:
  • A versatile cardigan, maybe in a neutral color like camel. Cardigans are so practical, they are definitely one of the key pieces of my wardrobe.
  • Another practical shoe for rain. I'm thinking of something brown, a brogue or something with a slight heel (but closed since it should work in the rain)
  • A short sleeved or sleevless fun top. Or something else if I have forgotten something now ;)

Well, I did get my January item... And it's amazing.:heart::heart: Those ballerinas must be the most beautiful shoe I ever had. Together with my Roger Vivier pumps perhaps. So delicate, so elegant and even comfortable... I'm completely in love. When they went on sale I was so surprised, I hadn't expected that since they had arrived in the store one or max two months ago. I simply couldn't say no.

I do feel a bit guilty though. I have bought five items in the last month. Technically I can call one my Dec item, one my Jan item and three my additional sale items... But it does feel much and I do feel a bit less under control than usually. Time to go back to a more "controlled" shopping strategy now. No more shopping for at least a month.

^ Very pretty :)

I saw some sandals I really liked pictured in a magazine, and they are flats, which I really need for spring. Called the brand's NYC store this week, and they haven't come in yet, and they don't know which colors they will come in. (Don't these people do a look book??) She said she'd call me, which I suspect means I will need to call her ;) Forgot to check on their return policy--need to do that.

Miu Miu shoes: General question to anyone who owns a pair of pumps by Miu Miu. Did u have them resoled before using them? I didn't have them resoled and now the light pink color is coming off at the front. What should I do?

Actually the same question applies to any shoes with a (colored) leather soles. What do people do with their Loubotins? I mean, the sole doesn't stay red when you walk in them? Sorry if I'm being stupid, that's just a question I'm not having an answer for...;)

I just let them wear like any other shoe--but there is a clear thing you can get. Zipsole? We have a thread about this ...

You can get red zip soles for Louboutins. I have pair that I'm planning on having that done too, mainly because the toe looks worn and needs extra protection.

I have a new laptop and haven't figured out how to save a photo from a website yet, since it is my first Mac, but I think I have my first spring items picked out.

DKNY silk crepe and chiffon top. The most perfect blush pink and because it is layered I don't need a camisole with it. Also, has a slight black detail at the neckline. I've been looking for a nice blush pink top for years now. I tried it on with a jacket that I really love but haven't been wearing and it breathed new life into it! Net a porter already sold out of two sizes, so I went ahead an ordered at full price.

Second item is the Valentino cage rockstud flats. I ordered them, but they sent me the wrong shoe! The heeled version - not the flats.

My goal for 2013 is to limit my purchases to 1-2 a month except for replacements. There is nothing else that I want right now.

aren't those beautiful words? ;)

love 2-layered tops! and it's so great to finally find what you've been looking for.

bought some black socks last night. recently had one of those wardrobe needs altering changes occur ... fell last week and broke/dislocated my thumb, leaving me with one good hand. this makes things with elastic waists, which i typicaly avoid like the plague, very desirable.

thinking of going shopping for some pants--but the shopping process is a little daunting. can't manage tights, which is almost all i have for the winter, thus the socks. i think i also took out my jimmy choos when this happened ... leather on both is scraped pretty badly. dropped them off today to see if they can be repaired. have a couple pairs of velour pants i bought when i was working from home, and a couple knit skirts, that are good. i can zip a zipper & button a button, but getting the zipper completely zipped is a challenge. tying a bow can be done, but not that easy. other closure ideas welcome :) any alternatives to the horror of the elastic waist? :p

Tata: Oh no!!! That sounds painful!! How long do you expect to have problems with it? Do you have dresses without zippers, things like knit dresses? That would sound like an alternativ... Any news about the sandals btw?

Salomelovesjohn: That sounds like two awesome items! Any pics of the blouse by now? Or a link? I would love to see it. And what color have the Valentino shoes? Did you get them by now? The cage shoes are such a classic and yet with a trendy look, excellent choice!

Color scheme: I think I'm improving in terms of my color scheme. I plan to have mustard and golden yellow tones during all seasons. In fall / winter I want to pair them more with burgundy, terra and brown. And in spring / summer more with turquoise, teal and white. Tata, since you have the link to my pinterest board, would you maybe have a look to see what you think of my "fashion dreams"? Do you think that could work? If anyone else wants to have a look, just pm me :p

Limiting my purchases: Honestly, I have a hard time focusing right now. I see soooooo many things I want. I really have to try hard not to order five pieces right away  I remember I felt similar last year in January. The combination of winter sale, start of my beloved spring/summer season and having some Xmas money on my account is quite dangerous... I'll really try and wait till February now though. Argh.

Tata, Hope you feel better soon! Ouch. And yes, it feels good not to really be craving anything.

redandnavy, I will have to check out your board. I think I have the link. Those colors sound very classic, IMO. I'm always looking for taupe and dusty rose colored items for spring. Maybe even a bag in that color this year.

Re. the cage flats. No exchange yet, I still need to contact customer service. They are sold out so I'm worried this is going to take awhile. And thank you! I think they will be a great purchase. Very pricey, but since I'm planning on only 2-3 shoe purchases this year I decided to splurge.

Here is the DKNY top & a Prabal Gurung top that I bought on sale in December. I don't usually wear silk tops so this is new for me.

not sure yet on timeframe ... i'm sooo excited because i finally got a specialist appt today (work injury--why taking so long), so i'll find something out on wed i hope. considering another pair of flats as i can't really wear tie shoes right now--just have 1 pr of flats left for cold weather & they have polka dots.

i mean the zipper on a pr of jeans i can't really get all the way up if the zipper is on the left ;) would never attempt a back zipper now, but i like the idea of a knit dress. right now the sleeve has to be stretchy to fit over splint--don't know what the cast will look like. Sandals--no change. but she said she would ask manager to allow me to return for refund.

looks like you have some good accessories picked out! oprah is wearing the scalloped chloe ballets in her magazine this month--like those, & pretty good price too.

thanks

love the pink one ... the other looks like a take on The Scream? Perfect for certain mtgs ;) or maybe drs appts

found out today that recovery time will be 11-15 weeks from now (surgery to insert pins next week), so the rest of winter into spring. planning to buy another pair of ballets with elastic. will work on this over the weekend. prolly also need more hosiery that aren't tights. the 2 prs of sox have worked out well. will see how it goes on the clothing end ... need to experiment a bit after i get some more versatile shoes. probably they need to be basic black ... hopefully i can find some with non-boring detail.

^Oooh, ta-ta, I feel for you. :( Having gone through a similar experience recently, I definitely understand the importance of a functional wardrobe in times like these.

^ thanks, nemova  yep, it is all extremely practical right now  one of my coworkers cracked me up ... 'i bet it's really hard to pull your pants up. ... i bet it's really hard to get your bra on!!' yes ... yes it is

ps looking at flats online, i see the chloe ballet comes in teal.

The Chloe Ballet comes in teal? Where, Where??

That really sounds quite bad with your thumb, Ta-ta. Hope u find a good pair of ballets!

^ thx, r&n. well ... i've looked back at several shops, and i'm wondering if the teal wasn't a trick of my other laptop's monitor, and what i really saw was turquoise or blue. it comes in a bunch of different colors, but now all i can find is these. neiman's has both, and barney's has what looks to be a darker blue??

Yikes! Tata! Almost 3 months!? =/
SLJ Nice tops.
R&N I love the idea of having color schemes.
A few updates from me. My favorite hat. A pendleton cowboy hat; flew off my head about a month ago. It was tragic. It anchors a lot of my outfits that I would consider a little more bold. So I had to replace that. I wore it so much over the year I had it that it sort of needed replacing anyway.
A former manager of mines is considering me as a candidate for a job at Steven Alan. I have not been working for anyone but myself since October so I had to make a trip to the cleaners. I had a lot of clothes that needed work done to them and if I got this job those were the clothes I would need to be wearing. It also made me realize how much I miss dressing up for work. I feel like I had been waiting for a job to drop in my lap and now I want to be a little more active about it.
