Has this Elle photoshoot been posted yet? :flower: It's called Smells Like Teen Spirit and a ton of the up and coming actors are in it.

i prefer the mid late 90s with the minimal style sexy, with the likes of helmut lang, jil sander and prada leading the way. the recent miu miu collection had a very 90s feel to it.
when i say 90s style, i mostly refer to high fashion, not your highschool doc martins plus faded floral leggings.

oh im thinking of 90s consumer style...def the more doc martens cropped oversized shirts and leggings..that i feel is what is really making a comeback in the mainstream fashion nowadays.

I have a 90s themed birthday party this saturday, what are some classically 90s pieces I can wear?! (and still look hot, if thats possible...)

^ cropped top with ripped jean shorts, maybe? floral dress with doc martins.

Angelina Jolie in 1994

I love her grungy 90's style here, I think it suited her very well :flower:

Checked shirts, heavy boots, high jeans, it's all coming back and looking great.

Aw, I can't see the pics. :(

This is getting more and more relevant and interesting with each month that passes!! Totally understandable that doc martins and floral dresses will be an easy transition for the masses after the 80s looks die out, and over sized checked shirts too.
Big clumpy chunky boots I think will be a maaajor growing trend over the next few years! Waistcoats are back already, blazers, leggings have been around for aaages but are now being worn in a much more subtle way (just as the 80s changed to the 90s).

this thread makes me feel old as i remember having the debate in the late nineties/early 2000s about how the nineties had no identifiable style. ha, history certainly proved us wrong!

i definitely see a resurgence of late in this style (although the eighties are certainly going to have their day first)....it just makes me wonder what's the style of the 2000s?!

^ i agree mikeijames, at the time it never seems like anything is definable!

this pic of Rumi @ fashiontoast http://www.fashiontoast.com/ is also quite 90s i feel, with the denim shorts, blazer and hat:

as for the 2000s... things that come to mind are: (from the UK anyway...)

celebrity influence (huge!!), skinny jeans, ballet flats, leggings, smocks/tunics, tribal stuff, hippie stuff, emo/indie, and goth/rock to an extent. hiphop was huge, but in a much more dressed up way (look at kanye, justin etc). but all this belongs in another thread!!

^ plus nu rave, all the bightly coloured jeans and poppy t-shirts of a few years ago, bit of a klaxons influence (in england at least). the early part was a bit weird, all i can think about was Atomic Kitten in bootleg jeans.
