The Acne Thread

I've got two pimples which are not as deep or large as the cysts before, but they just appeared on my face, on my cheek which I dont usually break out on ...it's hopefully because I wasnt able to cleanse my skin or put anything on it for 1.5 days, but tonight I'm going to put some baking soda on it overnight.

emailme. I think you should see someone about this! Can you?

cystic pimples are so deep under the skin and spread easily, so if you have problems with them you should def see someone

i have never been to a professional and i dont know how to look for one. I hope you can understand but its embarassing and a taboo topic to talk about.

im also not going to be egotistical and say that im a student and even with a job i cannot afford procedures, treatments.

:( any at home or department store remedies?

I've never had bad acne, but in college I've started to have really uneven skin (it doesn't help that I have freckles). Splotches of dryness and bumps sometimes. I wish I could just have 1 pimple every now and then like my friends. I can get relief with tanning sometimes, but that's not longterm.

I'm thinking it's because I use liquid foundation. What's everybody's theories on foundation and bumps?

i use liquid too, colorstay by revlon too. if anyone's aware its really thick(but natural looking)

Tomorrow im going to make an aspirin mask and buy new foundation.^_^

I've been thinking about switching to liquid, because I find my mineral powder way too drying. It has a way of caking onto the dry skin and emphasizing it to the point of extreme flakiness.

Retin-A is so drying as well, but is super effective when treating acne. I use it as needed as a night cream. I usually use Differin because it's not as drying, but that's more preventative, whereas the Retin-A is like my emergency go-to. Dermatologists & prescriptions can be your best friend....

I find I had less breakouts when using clinique.. since it's fragrance free and what not. Maybe it was just in my head though!

I don't think that liquid foundation is the cause of your skin problems, and if it is, I guess it have to be because you're having some kind of bad reaction to it, but other than that I just think it could be your skin.
Anyway you should def let your skin breath and use a good moisturizer with not so much water in it, but more fat for your dry skin, for the bumps I'm not sure if it's just the top layer of the skin, maybe a scrub will help..

I have some liquid stuff that I put on my pimples, but you need a receipt to get it here in Norway, I don't know where you live, but maybe you can get it with out one..I'll post the name when I come home on Wednesday^^

Also you could just go to you "normal" doctor and have he have a look on it..

yeah ive been using the same foundation since spring so im getting a fresh new one. .

what ive done for now was use the queen helene julep masque all over my face and then i cleaned my skin with proactiv. now im leaving some proactiv as spot treatment.

i think the 2 cysts are getting smaller, ill check tomorrow.

its really awful to see these two things coming from work. its just an awful awful feeling...

For have long have you used Proactive? Do you feel that the stuff works for your skin?

Facials, Facials, Facials! They do work if you have extra money...I have AHA/Glycolic based ones every fortnight and it does wonders for my face...My skin is acne-prone (usually get cystic acne in winter due to the dry climate), and facials really calm down uneven skin and redness...Its literally like having a new face/skin everytime...Can't wait for my next one :)

But do your skin stay that way after the facial for a long time or is it beginning to go back to bad when it's time for your next one?

^ It fluctuates...Especially around that lovely girly time of the month...But yes sometimes it looks great in between facials, and sometimes bad...I haven't had one for a month (since my beautician is overseas) and I admit its looking pretty horrific, so its not a cure...It just de-stresses stressed-looking skin, if that makes any sense :)

Yeah I understand..I've never tried it, but it would be fun just doing it to feel good about myself. But I think the pill is much better to get rid of pimples once and for all! ^_^ I've changed pills 2 times, once from Yasmin to Diane and then back to Yasmin again.

email me, I would stop using the Colorstay foundation as that is what could be breaking you out. I've read reviews and many seem to break out with it as it is a heavy foundation.

i think it does.

not as good as before but it does take a few days for something to happen.

Most foundations clog your pore no matter what they say on the packaging. Colourstay foundation would clog your pores even more because of the 'colourstay' ingredient or whatever they use. I've stopped using foundation and makeup completly and my face is clearing up abit.

But, I'm breaking out just under my nose and above my lip, and the area near my nose (on my cheek) is breaking out also.

yeah i understand makeup is bad for your skin period but i cant just go out with bad skin. Its an evil cycle.

anyway i bought extra strength aspirin to make the mask and my skin is stable now. I also bought Persagel 5%(bp) for night treatment.

I really really need to get some asprin - I can't believe there's none in the house.

What brand did you use for the 'extra strength' aspirin? Also, what is your first name, it's weird saying 'emailme' :)
