The Acne Thread

omg, thankyou so much, Tatika! the skintactix page is so informative! it got down to the reasons (some of which i had already suspected) why the acne occurs...wheat/dairy and/ or fatty acid defiency! i had already been trying to avoid dairy but now i know i am in dire need of the omega acids! also i am definitely ordering one of the kits, except i dont know if i should order the A1 kit(for normal/combination/oily skin) or the A2 (for excessively oily skin)...i think my skin is somewhere in the middle. maybe i'll order the excessively oily skin kit just to be on the safe side? i am also going to need the inhibiting gel for scars, and the total body wash and total body lotion.

thankyou again for sharing this! judging by the amount of research done and the testimonials on the website, i have ALOT of faith in this product. hopefully i can order it soon!

sweetie im so glad you took my advice!! as far as the kit, i would go with the A1 kit....only because the kit for excessively oily skin has a cleanser with glycolic acid...which can irritate the skin if you start to vigorously....from personal experience the glycolic exfoliator is incredable in its own right! but you know your skin better than anyone else...:flower:

OMG you will ABSOLULETLY LOVE the green tea poultice..its :woot:!!!! you put that on a pimple before bed and you wake up and like a miracle...its almost completely gone...let me know what you think of it!!!!!

i think i need omega supplements as well, just because my sebum is SUPER thick and dry, hence all my whiteheads...its an ongoing battle, but i think you will be pleased..KEEP ME POSTED!!!:flower::woot::heart::D

ACtually Ive got two glycolic acid creams from the brand mene& moy the first one is advanced c cream 30% acid glycolic and the other one phytic acid cream 8%
But unfortunately I cannot even use them cause my skin is reactin in the wrong way to almost everything
I was under antibiotics for 3 months (june to august)its like a mutant acne cause it resist the antibiotics so now they will give me the rolls royce lol Roaccutane

im not familiar with it, but im really afraid of benzoyl peroxide....studies show it might be linked to skin cancer!!!:o

It also prolongs and worsens hyperpigmentation from acne. Benzoyl peroxide is just bad news...the best advice anyone can receive is to STAY AWAY FROM IT!

I've had big acne-problems for 3 years, and i'm pretty sure that is was a Nivea scrub who released it  Before i started use it i had almost perfect skin. I've tried cleansers from Cliniderm, Biotherm and SebaMed, non of it have worked. 3 weeks ago i started to read some "beauty-blogs" and a lot of them mentioned Decleor. So i bought the green cleanser (for combi/oily skin) and i can already see a BIG difference. My skin is much smoother, it looks better and almost all of my acne is gone. I also use Biotherm Aquasource Non-Stop Gel Moisturiser.

That's scary to hear. I'm gonna read more into it now...

Had anyone tried Avene line for acne skin? I've heard some good reviews on this brand. Just wanted to ask here... :)

Not to mention it bleaches absolutely everything it touches! I have so many ruined bras, tops and bedsheets from using Benzyl Peroxide creams in the past!

This has probably been asked before but does anyone have any fast ways to get rid of black heads? Without buying any of those devices that I don't even think work. Thanks :)

Oh, thank you. I try those sometimes but they don't really get rid of the majority. Maybe I should use them more often.

Okay guys, just adding some of my two sense in....

I used Proactiv when I had major acne, and someone mentioned that Benzoyl-Peroxide prolonged the hyper-pigmentation of acne scars, and I AGREE! I was thankful that my skin is clear of blemishes and pimples, but I had a new problem; acne scars. Thank goodness they were just hyper-pigmentation and not the scars that severed the collagen in the skin.

For those having problems with hyper-pigmentation from acne and don't have sensitive skin, I really recommend products that contain Kojic Acid.

I've been wondering about smth for a while, maybe one of you guys can help me. how does being a vegetarian affect acne?

I really wish I hadn't used BP now. It's ruined so many of my clothes, and now I've realised probably my skin too!

Products such as..?

Apparently Kojic Acid is very unstable in products and loses it's efficiency quickly when exposed to air/light, so they often use 'kojic dipalmitate' instead. "However, there is no research showing kojic dipalmitate to be as effective as kojic acid"

I had that issue because I was using a very expensive product a year ago that used Kojic Dipalmitate when I thought it was the same as Kojic Acid. Forgot the name, and it barely worked if at all. That's when I started looking at the ingredients more often, especially for these "lightening treatments".

I'm currently using products by Kojie San, mainly their face creams for facial scars and their body lotion for body imperfections. I don't think there are any markets right now that sells them outside Asia. One of my Filipino friends actually recommended it to me and I had to search around ebay and amazon just to find it.

I've been using it for a while, and it has worked, much faster than products with that dreaded Hydroquinone. Although I can't say it enough, the facial creams are for people who don't have sensitive skin. The lotion is very soothing. I'm looking at the bottle right now and so far I think it's oil free so I guess you can use it on your face also.

They also have a kojic soap that I tried and it was terrible. I mean, it worked at what it was suppose to do, which was exfoliate the heck out of your skin, but I stupidly used it on my face and my face was dry for most of the day even with heavy moisturizing. Although the peeling effect did do a good job at getting rid of extra layers of skin on the scar areas. It wasn't as harsh on the body though, which I guess was the whole point since it's a body soap, haha.

Also, just a comment about hydroquinone, why is it that America is one of the few countries who still market it for lightening? I haven't had results with it even when using it for months at a time, and stopped when I found it can result in cancer. I don't get why American brands can't get into the whole licorice, kojic acid, and papaya for skin evening and toning.

Also, use of products containing kojic acid, sunscreen use is advised. Although sunscreen use is advised when you get out of the house anyways.
