toni, she's gorgeous! you need to show this baby off! that's what holy grails are for, especially super special ones!!!!! absolutely loving the silver hardware against the 03 lilac color!

Goodbye LP

I just found out that the ateliernaff site has been permanently closed. I can't begin to know what happened that caused that decision, but apparently someone hacked the site and caused trouble. What gets into people?! In any case, this has been discussed for two pages over on tPF and then the mod locked the thread saying "let's move on." I think sometimes people need to express their loss because loss is what it is - the loss of a good friend that was always there when you needed her, the loss of invaluable knowledge based on years of experience all tethered to one bright Balenciaga spot of leather. It was a labor of love for LP which will be sorely missed by those of us who so heavily relied on her expertise and comedic timing. I enjoyed it all and I for one just wanted to say how sad I am that it's no longer with us. Yes, there will be other reference materials and tPF is setting up a good source in their Balenciaga thread, but it won't be LP, I doubt anyone could maintain it like she did or offer such timely topical discussions. RIP ateliernaff. There should be a monolith erected in your honor and sitting at the top would be a gleaming jewel-toned Balenciaga bag which we could touch like the Rosetta Stone. Until we meet in the next Balenciaga life, farewell!

Wow I can't believe the site is gone! I was just on it the other week checking out the new colors for fall. What an amazing reference it was. Maybe it will come back one day w/ better securites, well I hope so!

I feel like I took it for granted that the Bal-Bible would always be there to educate us on the little details that make all the difference.

I was lucky enough to see it from nearly the beginning and memorize a lot of the information, but of course not all. Everyone will sorely miss it, but with all good things there's an end.

i wonder if counterfeiters hacked the site. i read a rumour that counterfeiters are hacking the "intranet" sites of various fashion houses to get info on bags that are yet to be released.

Here's what she said:

Well, it's been an interesting weekend.

You know, I had been planning to retire AtelierNaff from active Balenciaga duty in the near future - I've been feeling like a bit of a dinosaur as I realized I just can't manufacture much excitement for anything that's happened since fall '05. So I had two Balenciaga posts queued up to release in the next few weeks, and then I was going to pass the torch to another PFer, someone who is enthusiastic about the new bags and communicates about them just brilliantly.

Happy ending, right? But things went very, very wrong. I'd like to think it's just a coincidence and unconnected to the shenanigans over on PF, but someone decided to mess with AtelierNaff. That's twice now since I started this adventure, and after a long weekend of looking at the situation and discussing the options with MrNaff, I've decided not to wait for a third. AtelierNaff as we knew it is gone. I just don't have the time or energy to reconstruct what was there.

But don't fret, the Balenciaga community on PF is busy creating its own Bal reference with a joint effort from its wonderful contributers!

Meanwhile, I'm taking some time off. I'm asking everyone to respect my choice and not ask me for copies of individual posts, and not to republish my work product elsewhere. I may start blogging in this space again at some point, but what's gone is gone. For now I'm just gonna enjoy my quiet life.

P.S. for those who are wondering: No, there's no lawsuit. Just some petty malice. There's no private forum, either. Or at least not any I've been invited to...

and i'd also like to thank lp for all of her hard work...
i do know that the purse forum is in process of reorganizing the balenciaga section similarly to some of the other designer forums, and there will be a section on style reference, color reference, colors by season, and care & maintenance...

the balenciaga section is going to be closed over the weekend to make the final updates, but will reopen monday or tuesday, so i would check over there then...

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone. AtelierNaff has been a lot of fun (and tFS is where it all started!) but c'est fini. I was and - but now I'm just B). PF certainly has enough photos and collective memory to put together a very comprehensive reference. Maybe I'll start blogging politics or photos of my cat, who knows.

I've been gone for awhile and just checked the balenciaga thread this page havent flicked the previous ones. I just want to thank LP for all the work she has put in , for her help, i remember i had back and forth questions about balenciaga and she was beyond helpful. Thanks LP for everything. your truly a star=)
