^Sorry to hear about that kimair, seems that Bal's leather for the past few seasons have been very hit and miss.

kimair mine isnt terrible but it isnt great either. Theres a small corner of it that really bad tho. I moisturized it and its better but its not as glossy so I'll think I'll get some of the lovinmybags shine restore. I've used it before and its great.

my bouton d'or first came from bal ny yesterday, but the leather was so dry and crackled...
i was thinking about what i wanted to do with it, and i went to neiman's here and they had one, but the leather was pretty much the same...
i was so disappointed, but back to bal ny it goes...

kim, sorry to hear about this. balny is aware of the leather issue... they wont send me any this season bc they say i wont like the leather... i have been there a number of times and they have seen my 02, 03 and 05 leathers........

I haven't bought a balenciaga since the '05 rouge came out, but I recently started wearing all 3 of my bags again and want to purchase a new style/color... I was wondering how the leather compares to 2004/05 editions...

kimair i got mine bouton d'or from nm. it doesn't have the greatest leather but IMO pretty good compared to the others i saw. chauss is right though....anything after 05 has not been great...

Also, forgot to add, does anyone know when the bal will be doing the bags with the matching leather/hardware? Will the hardware be the giant or regular hardware?

I called the sa at Bal NYC and she had no idea what I was referring to...

^That will happen for the F/W 08 collection and it will be for the giant hardware.

i'm really hoping the quality of the leather gets better for fall, because there are a few colors there that i really like...

Quick question... is it safe to apply moisturizer on a Balbag? I don't have any Apple Garde atm... I don't want to use the bag in the rain without any protection but the wait's killing me

^Yes, I have applied leather moisturizer before on my B bags and it turned out fine.
Just to be safe you might want to test the moisturizer out on a small patch of leather in the corner of the bag first.

moisturizer is great on dry bal bags.
but for rain protection, apple garde spray rocks!
