The Balenciaga Thread (June 2003 - February 2009)

in the"olden days" of 2001, 2002 and even 2003, you had to know the right "buzz" words to even be able to have a precious motorcycle bag shown to you at bal paris and barneys nyc and barneys la.... they were too scarce to even be on display....and bal ny was not on the map yet.... it was a great score just to land a bal 'cycle bag.... i still have my original handmade black flat brass first which i bought at bal paris. since then i have many more firsts, citys, works and quite a few weekenders..... all my bags are regular hardware, i am a purist. for me, i love the simple rock and roll lines of the bag in all colors. they are just pure genious and never boring.... i dont care for the new thimble-esque giant hardware.....in any color... but i guess thats why they make vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream and bal bags....B) the production levels of the bags greatly increased when they changed factories and gucci acquired bal. i still remember when my bal bags were not mainstream and literally unrecognisable except to those in the "fashion know".

im with you on everything you said. although i (unfortunately) did not buy the very first motorcycle bag ! i remember discovering it and without having ever heard of it thinking how cool it was (and around that time i was only into gucci handbags and such)
all the bags i bought since are the regular hardware. that is in fact the main reason i like this bag. it is understated and very plain when you think of it. the only luxury one offers themself is the colour changing each season and thats what i love and why i keep buying more.
i must admit that i do sometimes think of getting one with the gold hardware but it must really be a one off and the colour combo must be well thought of.
otherwise the regular hardware all the way. i love the fact that i can throw these bags around anywhere i go. the just look better the older they get!

HELP!

I think i just murdered my bal city! it was unintentional, i swear! I foolishly left my bottle of water uncapped and shoved it into my bag and when i was fishing (pun not intended) for my phone, there was a POND in my bag! i am going to be known officially as "the girl who drowned her precious city" from this day on!

Question: should turn it inside out and air-dry my bag (the evil liquid has seeped through the lining!) OR should i use a hair dryer on it?

IM DISTRAUGHT! damn me foolish being!

^ That sucks, but at least it was only water. Miso soup would be worse.

If I were you I would pull the lining out and let the bag dry natually out of sunlight and after it's dry maybe condition the leather if it seems a little off.

Heat might shrink the leather and lining, and the sun isn't good for the leather. Good luck! Let us know how it is after drying.

bum, bal bags are suprisingly tough with water spills. i have gotten mine soaked with water from rain storms and they are perrrrrrrrrfect!!! justturn the lining inside out and if it is reallysoaked use a hair dryer AWAY fro leather, if you are too freaked out, hjust let it be away form the sun although it may dry slowllyy. where i am, it would never dry! LOL! anyway, relax, i have gooten water inside mine too from water bills, and they are fine. now, ball point ink is another story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!B)

hey guys! so my light pink balenciaga rubbed against my dark blazer and now is a bit blue...any tips for getting rid of the blue coloring? can i use a leather cleaner solution, im a bit worried it might ruin the leather or rub away the color...or if i do use it, it might leave a stain? thanks!

balenciaga did a limited edition magenta city this summer...
you could chose regular, GGH or GSH...
it's only available from balenciaga and only the city style...

if you search this thread, there's info posted about it...

1. I am awaiting the LE magenta city with giant gold hardware that I pre bought in April for $1595.00. Its suppose to be here any day now.

2. I am on the waitlist for the Giant silver hardware Violet day & the Giant gold hardware marigold day @ Bal NYC.

i'm waiting for the step in marigold RH as well as the city in both violet and marigold GSH :] i would love to see the GGH on the violet, i know that it probably looks way better...too bad nordy's and barneys are only getting the silver hardware but i also put my name name at balny...though i don't like their return policy. i've never returned a bbag but just knowing that i can only get store credit...have to mail it back and all that hassle i'll be happy with the silver hardware...for now. i seriously can't wait for the LA flagship store to open so i can just go and see the bags IRL.
