I haven't bought a balenciaga since the '05 rouge came out, but I recently started wearing all 3 of my bags again and want to purchase a new style/color... I was wondering how the leather compares to 2004/05 editions...

I was just getting ready to ask the same question -- I heard that the leather this past season was awfully thin (it was discussed somewhere within these 900+ pages). I want to start saving up for a black weekend to purchase in Fall but am curious about the leather....

mammab and posh...nothing compares to the older leather, but that being said, i went to a trunkshow at barneys last month, and i have to say, the leather on the new bags seems alot better...

the leather for spring was a bit thin and dry imo...

purseprincess...i personally love the yellow! do they both have gold giant hardware?

I vote for the yellow too. I find the red is a little too orangey for my taste.

I was at Barneys over the weekend and the SA said that all RH will be $100-$200 depending on the style. The GH bags will not be affected.

Hey Mammab--I was very tempted getting the black work while i was there but after looking carefully at the leather--i agree it was a little thin and crispy looking. I'm going to wait for the fall and see.

mammab nice to see you back! It's true the leather this season wasnt the best. I havent seen next seasons, hopefully kim is right. I'm really bummed about the price increase tho.

PP, I definitely think you should keep the yellow.

Another vote for keeping the yellow. I think the GSH goes better with the color than the Coral(or is that the Tomato?).

mammab: I concur with other ladies. Nothing comes close to the Pre-05 leather. How about wait until a pre-05 black WE to pop up instead of buying the new FW08?
I'm glad to hear that the Bal improved the leather quality, but there still is an issue of fading/greening black bags..
