The Brunette Hair Thread

^ Yup, we're in the same boat. I currently have very dark hair, almost black. But I really want to go back to a golden brown. Ugh, I don't want to wait but I really can't afford to colour my hair again, especially so soon.

I've found L'oreal Mega Browns work their magic. They have scrumptious shades of brown, from dark to light. I've tried it a few times and I love their line. I tried the color Mocha. It's a beautiful shade of medium brown with hints of mahogany and gold. I'd like to try Caramel next. I did this from dyed blond hair and works well. But I also love raven hair on certain individuals. Some people are very lucky to look drop gorgeous in brunette or raven hair. See a sample below, she's called "Dead Girl Superstar" on VampireFreaks.

^ Eh. I've seen so many girls that look like that.

#318 Keira does have a lovely shade of hair color in those photos. I'm not completely certain, but you would probably have to get your hair lightened (i.e. bleached) to reach that warm, golden shade. I'm also a natural brunette and when I had my hair that color, I had the front bleached. In some ways, you can describe it as darkest honey blonde:

I want to ask all you brunettes a question:

What would you consider the best haircut for a brunette?

Long, medium, or short? I recently cut my waist long hair and now I have it above my shoulders...It looks ok, but with my wavy brunette hair it just doesn't stand out as much as it used to when I had it long.

And I'm starting to think that perhaps brunette hair does look a little more sexier long...of course, don't get me wrong, short hair is just as sexy and everyone should cut it to their preferred length, but this question is killing me!

Thanks in advance...ugh, I'm going to go and try to style this new cut...

There aren't specific haircuts according to hair color though. That's more dependent on hair type, face shape, and what the person whose hair is involved prefers plus how much time someone has for taking care of it/styling.

I know some people with long hair that are always afraid to get it cut short in case they don't like it,and when they do get it cut it always takes a little while longer to get used to it. You really have to do what your going to be most comfortable with, you could always grow it longer again or take the plunge and get it shorter. Sorry only you can decide what you want to do.

Thanks! :flower:

Well, what do you guys consider the best haircut for a brunette? This is a personal opinion question...I'm just asking because my cousin and I are having a hard time choosing a haircut for her now that she is a brunette.

Of course, it all goes back to what you would feel most comfortable, but ideas would be great!

What's her hair type? For me the annoying thing is that every hair cut I love the most is much easier with straight hair. I can have them, but if I want straight hair I have to straighten it all the time. I haven't even bothered with that recently and just leave it wavy. It's also very thick.

By the way there's this website called Mopshots that has pictures of people, where they got their hair done, their hair type and views of their hair cut from various angles. There's not that much on there yet, but it might be good for ideas. I think I spotted one I'd like for myself that would actually work better for my own hair type.

I used to grow my hair long then get it cut really short, but then i was only growing it to tie it back away from my face and what's the point in that. So now i have it short, only because i know i suit it better that way.

by i mean "how do you guys find it, i mean like "do you think the shampoo is good or bad"... sorry...
I'm using it now with the conditioner. It makes my damaged and thick hair really smooth and shiny, but sometimes I feel, it makes the roots heavy. Anyway I have experienced it with other Tigi shampoos too. Maybe it's just me. So actually it's good, the best Tigi shampoo I think.

Im using the shampoo from the john frieda line and it's actually pretty good!

^ i love john frieda. i can't remember the name of it, but i think it's john frieda repairing. it comes in this green bottle and the scent is eucalyptus. i bought it at random without really thinking about it because i needed new shampoo & conditioner, but it works so well!

my engagement party is in 10 days and im seriously considering adding some light brown low lights to my natural dark hair (blackish brown) but i have an enormous fair of that brassy shade i see most natural dark brunettes have when they go lighter
what do you guys think? i reallllly want to do it since im wearing my hair wavy that day and with a touch of a lighter color the waves would look.. well.. nicer
any specific shades recommendations? inspirational pics? anything?

p.s. im a hair color virgin, i never had my hair colored before, thats why im kinda panicking

^ I guess you already find a way to fix it but you can try semi-permanent colour, it will tone or highlight and give ur hair a more uniform tone

ive always had a thing for light brown that is borderline dark blonde(looks more so in the other photos from the same editorial, it depends on lighting) or vice versa. interesting when you see Models agency cards and one says dark blonde and agency in different city will say its light brown
