The City

oh well i cant wait for tmrw s episode, with olivia and her jaw that doesn t open.
i just hope someone would tell whitney that she needs to go to school and learn what fashion is before wanting to be a designer.

^ same. I want to see what happens with Olivia..

Whitney really needs to start listening to kelly about roxy..

I watched the first ep of The City the other night and Olivia used to be able to open her mouth! Did she get tetanus and develop lock jaw?
Isn't Roxy's mother on Brothers and Sisters?

olivia s jaw s a mistery to me, i really wanna know why it doesn t open even when she smiles.
again i can t wait for tonight or rather tmrw when it ll turn up online

^ In preppydom, it is called Locust Valley Lockjaw- a very chic Connecticut/Upper East Side/Country Club/Ivy League sort of thing...It's inbred into preppies- they are sent to camps when they are young to learn how to never open their mouth... :innocent:
(The actual Locust Valley, btw, is a hamlet in Oyster Bay, Long Island NY which is essentially where The Great Gatsby was based- so you kind of get the picture...)

ha ha that's interesting! you learn something new every day

I don't get it. Is it supposed to be chic to open your mouth as less as possible? It's looks/sounds so uptight.

'The City': Roxy Olin says Olivia Palermo is indeed that nasty

By Jacqueline CutlerJune 3, 2010

In the we-knew-it-all-along category: Olivia Palermo is as imperious as she seems. So says Roxy Olin, of MTV's "The City."

"Olivia is like that or even worse," Roxy tells Zap2it. "I don't know where the entitlement came from. I was raised with no matter what job you have, you treat everyone equal.

"My mom (Patricia Wettig of "Brothers & Sisters") is from Nowheresville and earned every penny, so every penny counts. Olivia acts so privileged. Have you even earned it? I can't comprehend it, even if you are so rich or so out there."

"It's so cutthroat in the fashion world, why take yourself that seriously?" she wonders. "What do you gain from it? It must be really lonely for Olivia. Don't you want to be involved and have someone to talk to? I guess she makes good TV. Maybe she will look at herself and say, 'I look like an idiot'."

"The City" can be a tough place to work. "There are things that get really hard for me. Emotionally, it takes a lot out of you because your name is on the bottom of the screen. Even if it isn't 100 percent reality or 100 percent the truth, it's always an extension of who you are. So when you watch it, the anxiety is different than the anxiety of a performance."

Still, Olin enjoys her role on the MTV series. "At the end of the day, it is Whitney [Port's] show. She knows every single person's name we work with. She goes out to lunch with everyone."

Yes, her mom is on the show and her dad is the producer.
I was watching old episodes of The Hills (season 3, I think)and she was on on one episode with Stephanie. Apparently she's making the MTV reality show rounds.

^ Friends in high places, I suppose...I can't stand her myself...

^She has an interesting story... I don't care for her but to know that she was a crack cocaine addict for 4 years and now has turned her life around for the better... I'm able to stand her on the show.

It's probably hard to quit bad habits... look at Lindsey Lohan, so Roxy may have some good qualities...

I don't hate Roxy at all. Roxy is an actress doing exactly what MTV asked her to do-- create drama for Whitney. Without Roxy's meddling Whitney would put everyone to sleep if she doesn't already.

I'm a little late here, but I thought I posted this already...From The Cut in the peerless New York Magazine!! :woot:

Lesson 4: Plugging lines at market appointments.
Don't: Lie about a line just because it's your friend's. When Roxy shows Paper's Mickey Boardman the Felder and Felder line, she suggests he check out Whitney Eve because it's girly and "rock-and-roll cool." No it's not. It's sl*tty Easter-party wear.

Lesson 5: Accessories.
Don't: Wear a sparkly headband on any other day than that of your naughty Easter party. Whitney wore one to the Guess party, which was not a sl*tty Easter party.
.

 Thanks Boomer for sharing that review. Too Funny.

And who is Roxy to say things like that about Olivia?? For example, Olivia and Whitney never got along very well, so it's understandable that there are tensions between those two. But I can say that Roxy is a terrible friend to Whitney.. She totally ruins Whitney's chances in fashion business with her stupid behavior. She's the most irritating person in The City:yuk:

omg roxy's mum plays holly! i hate her on that show.. & i cant stand her daughter - on the show and the real one!

:yuk:

I don't mind Roxy, she's the lesser of two evils. Olivia is far, far worse, she's just intolerable.
