The Clinique Skincare Thread

I think the reason people are reporting such different results is because....different skin care products work for different demographies

Too true! :flower:

i got a 50 buck gift card to sephora so i MIIIIGHT (big might) go buy the three step set..

I've seen a lot of improvements using the three steps regularly, although I find the Drammatically different too rich, it leves my skin oily in the morning...

^ Do you use the lotion or the gel? Because if you switched to the gel it might be less oily?

Yeah, the gel is heaven during summer. In winter (and during flights), their moisture surge is beyond awesome! You apply it, it sucks RIGHT into the skin and leaves it soft and warm and hydrated.

My friends say that Clinique is just neutrogena in a fancier bottle. Is it really just a rip off?

yes I use the lotion... Maybe I'll try the gel if you say it's less heavy and oily. I really can't use it in summer

I adore the Gel, I have oily skin to being with and I will use nothing else Its magnificent, its worth I try for sure. Its not oily at all!

i think im going to buy a bunch of clinique stuff for the morning since i ocm at ngiht and i can never find a good cleanser i like

I have pretty oily skin that's prone to breaking out, but gets really dry very easily. (So, basically combination skin..) I've been looking into Clinique products and have a list of the products I think I should use for makeup, and plan to go to the counter soon to get opinions from the salesgirls and to hopefully buy some makeup.

Here are the products I'm considering:
-Foundation: Stay-True Oil-Free Foundation
-Concealer: Line Smoothing Concealer (for under eyes and scars/blemishes)
-Powder:Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder

Any input/experience with these products would be greatly appreciated!

There's nothing fancy about Clinique, except that stores like Bergdorf's and Neiman's sell them because they're the cheapest line of skincare in the store and people flock to the counters not knowing any better and buy the horrid 3 Step, screw their pH up and then are brought back to buy more products. I'd use Neutrogena over Clinique, except now Clinique is finally making $100+ skincare items, which though the ingredients are still likely ****, I'm intrigued to look at. But I'll stick to my Natura Bisse. ^_^

hmm interesting... so Clinique is bad for skin's ph? do you know any cosmetics brands that are the same price range as Clinique but are better for skin? I used to love it actually and didn't know it was bad :(
Neutrogena is great, but sadly it's not sold here where I live, so I buy it when I go somewhere, like when I was on a vacation in June and I had a flight transfer via Dubai duty free and I bought LOADS of Neutrogena there, but soon my resources of it would be finished and I don't know what to buy next as I thought I'll buy Clinique stuff again

It's the toners and the yellow moisturizer that are bad, the DDML. Bad for any skin type other than totally normal. I have a girlfriend who used the Clarifying Lotion no. 2 and that's got the worst kind of alcohol in it, and her skin never reacted because her skin could tolerate it. It's not a skincare for those with delicate skin, like me, who could never use it.

Where do you live? Can you purchase stuff online? Register at makeupalley.com and the skincare board there has tons of knowledgeable people with great advice. :flower:

I actually like the DDML, I have tried to use other things but when I got one of the little sample pots and used it again I really liked it, I might try it again actually.
Has anyone used the all about eyes? do you like it/does it work?

I live in Kiev, Ukraine. They sell here lots of skin care stuff, especially really lots of Italian and Russian cosmetics that noone wants to use, but it's hard for them to sell Neutrogena here! Actually some Neutrogena stuff is sold here - like hand cream and body lotion for extremely dry skin, that line in white bottles, but they don't sell orange colored bottles and other Neutrogena stuff.
I can purchase stuff online, but Neutrogena is pretty cheap itself and the taxes would be really huge, like x2 exceeding the price of what I'll order and the whole procedure is rather complecated so I'd better buy it somewhere else. Thanks for the link!:flower::wink: I'm going to check it now

I use Clinique Pore Minimizer under my makeup, and it keeps my skin non-shiny for a few more hours. Just ordered the Dramatically Different Moisturizer from Strawberrynet, hopefully it will suit my skin.

I bought the famous step three moisturizer, but in the gel format cause my skin can breakout.

But I am too chicken to use it, I am scared it will make me breakout.

:ninja:

I recently got the soap and the lotion # 2 from the 3-step. I absolutely love it. A long time ago i used #2 lotion and it was too harsh, but # 1 is great. My skin loves it!
