The Cover Challenge (PLEASE READ THE THREAD RULES IN POST #1)

black is defined differently in different cultures and at the end of the day you have to recognize that this is an international forum. So whereas someone may be saying "black" and thinking in their mind african-american, someone from another culture could have an entirely different concept of the term. It's not really a universal term so I was just saying that to allow for some more leeway, and also because that's probably what's going to happen anyway.

But, just a suggestion, I've never made a cover before so I'll just be watching what happens and voting as always.

^i would have loved this cover if it were for better texture on your letters and a better face on joan. it looks fantastic!

and guys! let's please not start a race discussion here! is supposed to be fun! :)
we are all black and white and gray! haha

Why don't we do minority instead of black

Vogue Italia did 'The Black Issue' in July 2008. So if it's good enough for Italian Vogue, then it shouldn't be an issue in this thread.

I certainly didn´t mean to start a discussion, just that I wasn´t sure if my cover would qualify for the challenge. In my eyes it does, so I´m gonna stop now ^_^

Thanks Mark, if you want and if you don't want to make things hard use just the models of that Vogue Italia Issue... just a suggestion;)

Hi everyone, just a note that this thread is for presentation of work and not for critiquing others' covers. If you find something not to your liking about another member's cover - simple solution: Just don't vote for it ;) Thank you! Let's try to keep things positive and rolling...

I agree but I guess its important to make it clear that the challenge is for black models only. That Lakshmi picture would confuse anyone that didnt know her coz she was actually styled to look African. That said, the covers are awesome very colourful such a regret that am on holiday and dont have any magazine cover designing software
