wow. so i've listened to the new album and im just not digging it as much as the first one. i passed on getting tix to see them in LA.....the first show was so damn amazing, the sound the performance, everything....
and somehow, i just am not feeling the altered vocals on the second album....
I love the song "the difference between us".
Still looking forward to see them once. I sold my tickets before, cause I didn't check their album right on time. Shame..
My brother is in line right now for the show tonight in Detroit, he said the line covers 3 blocks! I saw them last night in Chicago! So amazing, front-row is a MUST for their shows too.
I don't feel for their new album as much as for the first one but maybe it just needs to grow on me. "The difference between us" is my fav so far and it surely sounded great in advert for True Blood!
their gig in detroit last week was fantastic. jack was so funny. he was like "i visited my sister meg at her summer house in highland park today." NO ONE would have a house in highland park by choice, especially not in a summer home. and of course, alison was magnetic.
I thought the Letterman performance was good but a bit awkward in a sense. When a group plays at a tv show and the frontwoman isn't singing, just headbanging and playing a few notes on the keyboard it doesn't seem really right. I don't know, that's my feeling.
^ alison might be the frontwoman, but jack is the frontman. just because he is on drums, doesn't mean he's not the center of the group. even though alison sings most of the lyrics, when the band goes out on stage, the audience cheers mostly for jack.
I do kind of understand what you mean Vlana... for me, I think it's just more unusual than it is awkward. We're not very used to seeing drummers who also sing lead vocals (especially while they are drumming!). But like lunabella said, that are both the singers/frontmen of the group, since Jack also does a lot of singing on this album. This just happens to be a song where he does most of the singing. I don't mind it at all, personally. It's amazing that even when he's behind a drum set, he brings so much energy and intensity to the performance.
Is Alison known to not be a very good guitar player?
My bf and I saw them recently and she only played on one of the songs and she seemed to be only doing one chord. She also looked very awkward with the guitar, like she wasn't super comfortable with it.
I know she isn't a guitar player in TDW but I was under the impression she did a good bit in The Kills so I was expecting her to be better.
