The Eyebrow Thread, all you need to know and ask about your arches

Don't be afraid of what she'll think - I was scared of the same thing before I had mine done professionally. But then I realized the only way to really have them look professional is to go and have them done, and to stop worrying about what the person might think of them. Don't worry about what they look like now, just think of how nice and clean they'll be once your done! :flower:

hey thanks alot! karma!
its just that im afraid she'll look funny because my eyebrows dont look professionally done.. what am i supposed to say to her? do you have to give a detail explaination of which eyebrows you want? or do they just know it themselves what looks good?

She wouldn't want to see your eyebrows professionally done, if you had them professionally done already, why would you be there? The best thing to do is grow them out completely and let her start from scratch! I usually walk in with eyebrows that look worse than my father's :p

Most professional eyebrow shapers will know how to shape it into the most flattering look for your face. But you can give her general guidelines, like I usually say that I want her to keep them on the thick side. If you're really nervous, you can maybe bring in a couple pictures of eyebrows you like to give her a guideline of your taste, but what looks good on your face is pretty unique to only your face, so you can't expect to have eyebrows that look exactly like someone else's. And don't worry about what to say to her, she's the one providing the service, she should ask you the right questions to understand what you want.

It's also not rocket science, the shape your eyebrow needs to take is already there, mostly what she has to do is clean off the top and bottom and the beautiful shape emerges.

Don't be scared at all, it makes such a huge difference in my face, and consequently my confidence, when I've just had my eyebrows done. It's the best feeling!

Thank you so much. That's highly convincing for me to go there :) I wish I could karma you again, but I can't right now! Thanks again.

sigh. be careful if you ask your hairdesser to brush whatever color you use to do your lowlights in your eyebrows...mine turned red.

also...anyone have any tips on GROWING your eyebrows out?? I plucked mine too much, not thin but I took a whole chunk out of the begginning of it, if you know what I mean.

I found the best treatment is just to stay away at all costs.. mine come back in a few weeks. Its hard but the only good way I see doing it and maybe using some filler in the mean time..

i did exactly that last night! but I managed to fill the gap in with an eyebrow pencil and I kept touching up through the day so no one noticed...
Last week i got my eyebrows threaded at the walk in eyebrow bar in harvey nicks and i was so impressed with the result! and it was so good not having to book an appointment, i just went up to them and they told me to come back in fifteen minutes.

I thought this was interesting... from sephora

I have pretty sparse eyebrows, and for sort of wide set eyes it isn't the most attractive look! Any recommendations for good eyebrow pencils? I really don't want to look like I have really dark drawn in brows..I've seen the pencils that have the mascara type brush on one end to help blend, but not sure what brand to get?!?

^ just went on the MAC site..but I'm confused, so it's just a gel you rub over it? And how do the colors go? ehh maybe I'll just buy it at an actual MAC counter so I can get the color right!

i used to have really nice eyebrows and i wrecked them with years of overplucking and waxing...and dare i say it, even shaving. what a misguided child i was :( they have never grown back properly. i still have my passport picture from when i used to overpluck my eyebrows, so gross! what was i thinking? now i leave them alone aside of getting rid of stray hairs and adding a bit more of an arch once or twice a month. looks much better that way.

i love full brows like natalia vodianovas and jennifer connelly. keira knightly also has really nice eyebrows. it just looks so elegant and natural. hate hate hate thin drawn in brows.

Im really becoming obsessed with this thicker more natural brow look. Loooooooove.

I don`t use eyebrow pencil so I can`t help you there, but if you want thicker eyebrows you should try castor oil(I used it for my eye lashes and it worked very well). You just put castor oil on your eyebrows before you go to bed(cover your pillow or it will get dirty) and you`ll grow more hairs and they`ll be thick, long and shinny. The process could take a few months but IMO it`s worth it.

Hairs that fall out

What can I do about the hair that falls out of my eyebrows? Sometimes I get hairs that fall out, usually at the inside corner of my eyebrows, and they don't seem to grow back. It distorts the shape, too, so that's really annoying. How can I prevent the hair from falling out, and how can I get the hair to grow back faster?

I love fabulous eyebrows. Unfortunately, I've never gotten mine waxed or anything so mine fall into the category of "Oscar the Grouch eyebrows". :yuk: I'm so afraid of a stylist making them too skinny!

I'm really picky about my brows, too. I like my brows natural but groomed. If I ever see a new aesthetician I always make it very clear that I'm a) picky, and b) only want stray hairs removed. Don't be afraid to voice what you want! If you're honest about what you want, you won't walk away with too thin brows :flower:

I am not plucking them anymore, seriously, full eyebrows are gorgeous. I am lucky cause I have long brows and a lovely shape. The thing is, I used to like them short and I wanted them to be always perfect. Now I don't, I sort of like the natural-messy look(sort of Charlotte Casiraghi)

any tips with getting your brows waxed? like with the redness and stuff, fastest way to get rid of that, etc! i'm getting them done soon and I don't want all that nasty stuff on my head for days :X thanks.

I have one tip, don´t do it!
Brows are to be plucked with tweezers, not waxed! ;)

Waxing pulls off the very thin skin around your eye area making it sag.
