The Eyebrow Thread, all you need to know and ask about your arches

^there is such thing as an eyebrow gel. Its not as thick as a mascara, but if you're cool with wearing mascara, make sure you use a waterproof mascara just for your eyebrows, just in case.

emailme: When does the falling out period happen? And why does it happen is it just the cycle of the hair and it will always happen.

i dont know when it starts happening but later later on i think it happens every 6 months or so. Im not so sure.

Yes, i think it is the cycle of the hair. Im not losing small tiny hairs they are the longer ones.

But yeah it goes on for about 1 week or more and its really sad.

I really dont want to use an eyebrow pencil .. but I've tried it ocne and it made my eyes look more defined and awake.. and i dont ahve VERY fair hair but ti not really dark either.. i really want to tint my eyebrows.. is there any other benefits email me?

i dont get it. what is your question?

Are you asking about the benefits of eyebrow pencils or benefits of tinting?

sorry for all the spelling errors in my last post I was a bit drunk I think.. lol.

I always thought eyebrow gel was just that... a gel.. that gives a sort of 'wet look' to the brows? Could you explain to me Ale?

I love your brows btw, they are gorg!

brow gel is not like hair gel.

Im not so sure but Ill tell you what I know.

Hair gel coats the hair much more thicker and can flake much easier.

If you use it on your brows it will be too thick even with the proper brush and will stick to your skin too.

It may also be too heavy and just completely goes against the whole point of brow gel keeping your hair in place and not go down.

If you use hair gel for your brows, it'll not last long and flake off. You will look like you have brow dundruff.

Never flattering.

Ever since I started using an eyebrow gel, I can no longer live without it. I like the fact that it keeps the eyebrow in shape without a glossy effect, nor does it flake. I currentley use Laura Mercier's eyebrow gel and it's fantastic. I know Chanel has a eyebrow gel as well, I'm not sure how good it is.

Well if you tint brow the proper colour it can enhance your face and your hair color.

As you said, it can make your brow look fuller if the tinting is done properly.

oh, jesus, I saw a woman today with absolutley NO natural brows and she looked like she drew the fake ones she had on with a sharpy marker. Jesus, it was vile and ugly.

Actually hair gel and eyebrow gel is essentially the same thing resulting in the same effect. I sometimes use clear mascara on mine.

If you do not want to fill your brows with an eyebrow pencil (I hate the look, too matte and looks trashy since most cannot properly apply and tend to just draw a line instead of filling out the spars spaces) try using a graphite pencil instead. Select a color a shade darker than your hair and it looks completely natural.

HA!

I do many things to my brows. I spend probably one month or two covering my brows with spirit gum to hide the growing hair, when im in the process of changing my eyebrow shape. I grow a bunch of them so I can trim from all sides and dramatically change the shape.

I also aid the change with lots of brow coloring. I fill them in with Smut from MAC, or Brun, with an angle brush, then black eyebrow gel from gaultier.

sometimes for drama purposes, I tape my temples up to my hairline for an even higher arch. but this is only done when going out or pictures.

I'm always so scared of plucking my eyebrows too far in , so am going to get them professionally done, so do you guys reccomend get them waxed (sounds so painful  ), plucked or threaded (which sounds even more painful). Thanks :flower:

p.s. I know this is off topic but what do you use on your skin Ale, it looks flawless in the photo posted somewhere above

chanelno5, go to someone who specializes in brows and does both. Doing just one sometimes isnt the best.

In previous experiences here, make sure and keep insisting what you want done. Whether its the natural look or whatever.

Also you may want to bring a reference of what you mean. If you mean natural bring a model picture with you. If you want a celebrities brow, then bring a picture of them.

Make sure you know what you want and again, insist that you get what you want. Brows are very personal so you dont want to be stuck with ones you dont like.

Another tip, look at the professionals brows. Say if you like them or say something thicker than yours or I dont want mine that thin.

Take your time and hopefully the results will satisfy you.:)
