The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

Does anyone know why some foundations are scented ? I hate scented foundation. Lancome took some getting used to.
I know! My two faves, Max Factor Panstik and Revlon colorstay both have smells. The colorstay has a strong 'makeup-y' smell, which isn't really a smell, but just that usual foundation smell; but the panstik is so perfumey! That is one thing I hate about it, it is so damn PERFUMEY! Eww. Good thing the smell fades quickly.

^I've always heard really positive reviews, but I haven't tried it myself :flower:
I remember the Beauty Addict (beautyaddict.blogspot.com) recommends it, but says get it in the travel format, because it usually comes in a glass bottle and it's hard to get all the product out ^_^

hum.. my forehead is very oily and the rest of my face is very dry. what foundation should i use?

can anyone recommend a "very light reflective foundation" like alejandro mentioned?? does mac have any that dont make you look super pale in pictures? thanks!

I know that the YSL "Parfait" ones are good. Teint Parfait is a bit more pigmented moisturizer, it really smoothes the entire surface of the face, giving it a bit of color.

The other one would be Perfect Touch, the one which comes with a brush on top. It's oil based and turns powdery when it dries one. More pigmented, but still rather sheer. But at least here you see a difference between with and without, while the Teint Parfait doesn't really *do* anything in that context. Just enhances your complexion.

Yeah haha when I first got ysl lumiere foundation the woman who was selling it tried telling me the smell was the plant extracts , it was such a line !

Has anyone tried the spray foundation that make-up artists use?

I've heard it's quite expensive, but that's not an issue. I'm willing to splurge on make-up especially if it will make my skin look flawless. I'm just wondering if it's worth the money. I don't normally wear the foundation I purchased because it always feels too 'heavy'. Even though it's supposed to be light .

In the gossip girl fashion thread, someone posted a spray foundation that the makeup artist on the show uses which I believe is called Pur-Fect, or something like that, that's available at Sephora. I think it retails for approximately $60 which I don't think is too bad.

I just got Smashbox Photo Finish Light foundation primer. It's in a newly designed bottle, apparently the old style meant that you couldn't get all of the product out so it was pretty wasteful. It's supposed to be exactly the same formula, but a 'light' version, specifically for oily, acne prone or sensitive skin to give a matte finish all day.

I'll let you guys know how it works ^_^

Teint Innocence. I never thought my skin could look that beautiful. Its long-lasting and light too.

has anyone noticed that maybelline's cream age rewind foundation, while being wonderful in its moisturizing properties, smells like buttered popcorn? O_o

hey bonjour tristess (great name i love the movie and book...did you see her in breathless?) is tient innocense good for the oilies/covering redness?

I love my Bare Escentuals mineral foundation. When I need extra coverage I use MACs Studio Fix concealer with a small brush and apply where needed.

On nights when I want something a bit more, I use MAC's Select Foundation. Its oily though, so I rarely use it. However, MAC loose powder is to die for.......

Unfortunately I haven't!

To your question: I don't have dry skin, i wouldnt say it's very oily, but definitley not dry. It covers up perfectly in my opinion, yet leaves a transluscent skin. I could rave about this project forever.

If you consider buying it but still have doubts - you could go to a store and let someone put it on you and youll see it for yourself whether you like it or not. Good luck!

how do you cover up spots? (if they absolutely have to be covered- i know it blocks pores)
do you use concealer or foundation or both????
