The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

I don't think there really is a 'proper' way of doing it but I like to put on concealer after I did my foundation, because the foundation sometimes hides a lot more than you would expect. Also with undereye concealing, it's better to do it after you did your foundation/eyes/brows because when doing your eyemakup, tiny bits of eyeshadow can fall down. And then you can clean it up with your concealer. If you don't use eyeshadow or brow powder, it doesn't matter of course when you apply your concealer.

My routine:

moisturizer
foundation
concealer for spots on my face
cheeks
brows
eyes
concealer under the eyes
lips

^I do exactly the same. I never wear foundation, but if I did...that would be the way I'd go about it

My routine is

Cleanse
Serum
Moisturiser
Primer
Foundation
Concealer
Eyes
Cheeks
Lips

Any reccomendations for a powder? I'm having a total make up overhaul, new year new start and all that jazz ^_^

Cargo Blu-Ray. Sets makeup really well and makes your skin look smooooth and flawless, I love it. It's very finely milled. The "looks good in HD pictures" thing is sort of gimmicky, but actually great. Its ingredients are extremely good too, about as non-comedegenic as it gets.

does any body know of a primer/foundation that doesnt make your skin oily and leaves it looking flawless?

That wouldn't look good in photos though, beware of foundations and primers with spf in general

^Because they photograph really badly, plus the SPF won't protect you for more than a couple of hours. You need to apply a proper photo stable and waterproof sunscreen if you need protection from the sun. In order to achieve the SPF in foundations you need to reapply LOTS every few hours...no one wears that much foundation

Just to add, SPF in makeup usually means that it contains titanium dioxide which always looks super white and strong in photos. But they're fine for everyday wear and if you don't live in a hot and sunny place that would require a sunscreen base before your makeup, they provide a bit of necessary protection :flower:

Well I've seen ppl with that much foundation on..scary :ninja: haha

^MAC Face&Body, dear :D It's waterproof, it does not budge and it is undetectable, even under the harshest light. You can't even feel that you have it on! And you get 120 ml of it, which makes it fairly cheap. I got mine off eBay, even though I have MAC in my town, they don't sell Face&Body. I have combination skin and I love it. I've had MUAs come up to me and compliment my skin - when I tell them I'm wearing Face&Body, they always go "Oh, you cheat!"

I really love the face and body foundation too! I've been addicted to it since I got it. Its definately a staple for me. I love than healthy and most importantly dewy look and freshness it gives. Just like model's skin:heart:

Nope. The weather doesn't need to be warm or sunny for you to get a sunburn or UV damage to the skin, and the so-called SPF in foundations lasts for a couple of hours max. It isn't even enough for everyday wear. If you apply your makeup at 7 in the morning, by 10 you will have no sun protection for the rest of the day.

Titanim dioxide is such a crap ingredient

I'm very pale (NW15) but I've got dyed brown hair atm (I'm naturally a blonde) and I want to give my face a little more colour by using a bronzer. I'm mainly going to use it as a blush/contour, not all over my face bc then I'd have to tan my whole body up and that's too much of a hassle .
I've been eyeing the YSL Terre Saharienne and Guerlain Terracotta Poudre Bronzante Hydratante Haute Tenue, both in the lightest shade ofcourse.

Which one's best? Or would you recommend another bronzer (not too shimmery)?

FleurDeLys, I have the same problem (I'm blonde though). Yesterday I was watching some photos of mine and it hit me like a bolt out of the blue- I'm as white as chalk.:o I always knew I was pale, but not THAT pale.:o I use blush, but I was thinking about bronzer lately as well. I have Soleil Tan De Chanel bronzer, but I find it too dark. But I don't think I have the lightest shade.
