The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

Make sure and let us know how you go, and if you find anything you like! :flower: Also be careful when you have oily skin - try to opt for a foundation that is oil free, especially if you are using oil control products...

^ Will do! I am using powder foundation :) It is the NARS powder foundation and I like the finish of it. My sensitive skin is not allergic to it either :)

^I kind of use the same loose powder as you. Except the shade Eden got too dark for me so I invested in Shu Uemura powder. The NARS powder is very nice but don't you find the packaging very annoying? I travel so much and it always breaks my heart whenever I find that all the powder has spilled out... Now I have to tape the holes before I put it into my luggage. :(

Which primer has the best oil control?
My face is super oily by the middle of the day. I am using NARS primer right now.

Thanks! :flower:

i use smashbox photo finish light and it works really well...
i've heard that dermalogica's oil control lotion is great too...:flower:

michyed: I am using the one in the compact. So it is less troublesome :) I love that it gives a matte finish but my oily skin is the culprit in creating all the problems. So i need to find a oil-controlling primer.

kimair: Does smashbox photo finish light contain any silicone?
I am allergic to silicone :(
But i will definitely check out dermalogica's oil control lotion :D Thanks.

^I looked it up for you and here are a list of oil-controlling primers you might want to try out (I picked the ones with better ratings for ya)

Murad Oil-Control Mattifier (This one seems to be getting great reviews)
Mary Kay Oil Mattifier
Lorac Oil-Free Neutralizer

korres vitamin e primer is the only primer I know of which is silicone free - it's nice and creates a smooth base and I didn't find that it made me oilier but it didn't do much to control the oil either :ermm:

michyed: Thanks so much!!! :D :flower:
Has anybody tried any of the primers above? :)

I have sampled the Murad and I really liked it. It was quite thick but went on smooth & definitely created a matte look.

Has anyone tried the MAC Face & Body Foundation?

I'm looking for something sheer with a dewy finish to it. I have okay skin, so I don't want a lot of coverage...only something to even out my skin tone. I don't have to cover up anything, so that's not what I want it for. Just something that looks really natural and non-cakey

But...I've heard that MAC foundations breaks you out?

does anyone s face turn out way too white on pictures??

i read that some foundation make the face too white when the pic s taken because of the flash.

happens to me pretty often which i hate

^There are actually certain foundations designed for flash photography (I know lancome has a brilliant one), but I've noticed it's the foundations with a higher SPF that look very bright in pictures... Haven't had that problem with the Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation though!

I've also noticed that my friends who apply many layers of pressed powder have the same problem too, so maybe a loose powder would work a lot better.

all i can tell you is that i like my MAC foundation for the cover (which you don't want). but it does brake me out. that's is why i only use it to special occasions.

still searching for a foundation with coverage that doesn't break me out. i might try Armani...

^I'm thinking that the Face & Body Foundation won't be so bad as it's water based... I have heard the worst stories about MAC's foundations and primers, so I am a little hesitant still.

And, of course, I have only heard the best about Armani...

Hmm... I've only used their Studio Fix Fluid and Mineralize Satinfinish foundations. They were both terrible for my pale skin. My friend (who is a bit paler than me) gave me her Mineralize Satinfinish because it was too dark for her (it was one of the lightest shade in the store)... Turns out it was too dark for me too. :ermm: So I don't have the best of experience with MAC. This might help though: http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=965/face_and_body/MAC/Liquid. If you can't view the page just tell me and I can c/p the "most helpful" reviews!

^Doh! I forgot about MakeUpAlley... It seems to be pretty good and it doesn't seem to cause break-outs on folks with dry skin (like me). The bottle is gigantic though. I think I'd have to put some of it in a smaller bottle as MAC foundations has a tendency to oxidize.

has anyone ever tried Kanebo foundation? i tried the Fluid Finish Foundation which was nice on my skin... but i wanted to hear other opinions before purchasing it.

I've just bought the MAC face and body foundation,I have pretty sensitive skin, and at the moment,it hasn't made me break out. We are talking all of 2 days usage though

my skin nowadays is dry and i am using bobbi brown moisture rich foundation but it doesnt blend well as before

How do you apply it?
