The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

^^^I also find this really tricky.... and even with using a synthetic brush, I don't think I'd know what to do!

........"If ivory it's too dark"! I'm looking for a very pale (pressed) powder, I've tried Ivory from the CoverGirl brand, as I was told it was very pale, but actually makes me look a bit tanned! I'd like a shade who would enhance my natural light skin. Do you already met the palest powder in the world? Let me know , I'd be grateful!
Sorry for my possible messy language, I'm not english speaking! :>

Studio Gear makes one that is practically white! I have the same problem, CG Ivory is extremely dark on me, but this one is nice and lasts a long time, too.

i just bought liquid foundation and im not sure if i'm applying it correctly, i usually use a sponge but i just feel like im wiping the foundation off my face instead of actually blending it, can someone tell me the right way to apply it? thanks :)

Tip of my fingers, always worked for me.;)

does anyone young use anti-aging foundation? im 20 with young skin (no wrinkles, combination-normal skin) but im so tempted to try maybelline's age rewind foundation. i like how it says it "wakes up" the skin. do you think its worth trying? will it do anything? are there similar products better for my age?

i was wondering aboutthe anti aging foundation too! i wonder if at my age 14 years old can i use it? wil lit effect any bad negative side to my young skin? or should i jtu stick to normal ligquid foidnation?

You don´t need anti ageing! :p

The only bad effects i can see that can cause to your skin is to make the cell renewal faster, therefore creating some sort of reaction (bad) to your skin.

Ok. here is mysituation. I've been using Lancome's Adaptive foundation, on the apples of my cheeks and on the sides of my forhead. Now, I have combination skin, and can get a few blemishes in my t-zone. But lately I've noticed that my skin has been acting up on the sides of my forehead, where I apply the foundation. I rarely get blemishes on my cheeks or my nose or skin bwteen my nose and upper lip. Basically my face is usually clear from my eyes on down, and the middle of my forhead is usually clear. I am beginning to think it is the Adaptive foudnation that is causing my blemishes and irritating my skin. I also should add that that wheenver I put that foudnation on the left side of my chin, it practically breaks me out immediately(within 2 hours I'd say). Should I assume that my skin acting up recently is caused by the foudnation? I see this foundation only has like a 50% approval rating at makeupalley. I am beginning to wonder. I also read it has silicones in it. That can't be good for your skin, can it?!

can someone help me out, i normally use a makeup up base and just liquid foundation, but do i HAVE to use powder over the foundation??

Nope I dont, cause my foundation causes a matte-dewy like finish.
(I use Revlon Colorstay Softflex(?) and the Old Discontinued Kind).

Nope, unless your skin is oily. But if you don't get shiny, then it's really not needed. Though it does help your makeup stay on all day.

You mean powder? No, unless you use a really really cheap quality powder and just PILE it on. A light dusting should never look cakey, even if it is a cheap brand.

I have a real problem with foundation-I use Chanel liquid, and I used to use MAC studio fix, but I have this thing where it seems to just fall off from the time I leave my house to the time that I get to where I was meant to go-it sort of looks like it's all rubbed off and there's just a slight layer of it left which then doesn't cover that much when i get to uni/the shops/a party. Usually the London cold wind is rushing past my face, and I think it could be that. What product do I use to make foundation stay put? Is it primer?

has anyone used the new MAYBELLINE PURE MAKEUP?
haha looks impressive, but i have yet to try it .=)

I´ve just started using the colour correcting primer from Smashbox along with YSL´s teint mat pureté foundation and they´re probably the two best make up products I ever bought! I have and oily t-zone and sensitive skin, a lot of products are too harsh for my skin but the Smashbox primer is so soft on the face without being heavy at all, and the YSL foundation is very long lasting. I´ve been using Teint Idole Ultra from Lancome before, and with that I needed powder right away and after an hour or two. With the YSL foundation I don´t use powder at all an it still looks matte for hours, I put some powder on my t-zone after around our hours and then it looks great for another four or so. Plus the formula looks so natural but still gives coverage. I sound like I´m trying to sell this stuff :) but it really is very good.

Isn't YSL foundation very heavy when it lasts for hours? Doesn't it look unnatural when you put it on yor face? I have oily/combination skin, but I dont like to cover it very much, becouse it looks unnatural...What about Teine Idole from Lancome, is it worth of trying, concidering that I hate heavy and long lasting foundation? any suggestions?

I don´t find the YSL foundation too heavy, but I like a bit of coverage so I guess it depends on what you´re looking for in a foundation. I don´t think you should try Teint Idole if you don´t want a long lasting foundation, Lancome has a couple of lighter ones than that, maybe one of them would be good for you.

What do you think is better: to use a heavier foundation for combination/oily T-zone- skin, or to use a light one, but followed with loose powder or compact?
