The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

One thing that y'all need to remember too is that shades vary from brands. Usuall, buff is waaaaayyyy tooooo dark for me to wear with my pale skin. Ivory is usually too pink, but I grin and bear looking like a ham. Well, today I hightailed it to CVS and looked at the colorstay shades (colorstay is currently my HG of foundations, lol) and buff is very, very similar to ivory, just not as pink and more yellow like. I bought it. Wow, I am so glad I did. It matches my face so well. Now that was a MAJOR suprise to see. Usually buff is, again, waaayyyy tooooo dark for me. See? Always always always remember that shades vary from brand to brand. :)

Good for you, glad you found one that suits you :) colorstay you said? I´ll have to see if I can find that here ^_^

no wonder it is said "the right foundation is ur best friend a true tale come true''

Hi everyone, I have a question:

My girlfriend has a birthmark on her neck and left side of her shoulders..., and would like to know the best way to cover it up. She currently uses Shiseido's "stick foundation" but it doesn't cover up well and the make up gets on her clothes. (don't ask why I'm the one posting this question instead of her :P) Any suggestions, particular brand(s) or kind? Thanks in advance!

^Colorstay won't rub off with normal use. If you sideswipe your face with a ton of bricks, yeah, it may, but with normal use it won't.

Hey everyone. I have a question which I am sure is really stupid and obvious but I need help!
I finally went to clinique and got a concealer and foundation sorted. What I want to know is: are the numbered shades the same for each product? Like if I'm a number 4 shade for superfinish foundation, will I be a 4 in other clinique foundations/powders? And secondly, are the numbers in any order? Like its the middle of summer here and Im very tan and I'm a 4, so when I get pasty in winter will I drop to a 3? Thanks so much to anyone that can help, I know its ******** but I would love your help :)

^depends. Some brands shades vary from product to product and in others they don't. Only way to know is to try ;)

Has anyone noticed that drugstore makeup is slowly improving? I mean, there are still some things that I would never touch, like anything liquid from covergirl or maybelline, but overall, does it seem a little better, or is it just me? I mean, like Revlon changing its colorstay line so now it is much more smooth and natural looking. You know what I mean? It just seems like lately it isn't "drugstore crap" anymore, or at least it is getting there. Except covergirl. Any kind of liquid from covergirl makes my skin crawl:sick: . I was in CVS earlier and really hunted through the makeup aisle and saw that there were a lot of new things that didn't seem so bad. I even bought a covergirl trublend powder foundation and I am admitting it is good. That is saying alot since I usually vomit:doh: when I pass the CG foundation part of the cosmetic aisle:lol: . (Powder from Covergirl, okay. Concealer from Covergirl, okay. Foundation from Covergirl, NEVER!! Eye makeup from Covergirl, NEVER!!!!)

So, anyone, or is it just me?

i agree with you 100%. there seems to be a ton of more product launches. pigments are better. choices are better.

when i was in junior high and started wearing makeup..it was slim pickens. now there is so much to choose from...

^I remember when I was 12 and tried to buy concealer for the first time. All I remember was everything being crappy and that was only 6 yrs. ago.

Hey guys not sure if this is the perfect forum for my question... I'm a bridesmaid in 2 weeks and my dress is strapless. Its summer over here in New Zealand, and I have the WORST tanlines in the world. I dont even want to attampt fake tan at this late stage, can anyone recommend a good bronzer that'll sort out my decolletage (doesn't have to be perfect but definitely needs some help)... any helpw ould be great :)thanks!

Sorry I can´t help with the bronzer, realfull :(

I just wanted to tell you guys that I bought the Wet/Dry foundation from Smashbox the other day (in the colour Smashing Ivory) and it works very well with my pale, yellow-toned skin, better than anything I´ve tried before. When you apply it dry you get a very matte, light coverage and when you apply it with some water on the sponge it´s more like a liquid foundation and it gives more coverage. I strongly recommend it (as I would most Smashbox products, I´ve loved everything I´ve tried so far:)).

Hey guys, I'm currently in search for a foundation for my prom. I have normal/oily skin (so preferably something that can cover up mild breakouts) with yellowy undertones, does anyone have any recomendations, I tried looking whilst I was shopping on Saturday bu I had no idea where to start looking. Thanks :flower:

If it's for prom, you're probably gonna be taking lots of pictures and from what I hear Make Up Forever is the best when it comes to pictures. I have the Face and Body Liquid foundation and it gives a very "not wearing any makeup" but flawless look. And I also have the Full Cover Concealer which will cover ANYTHING without having to layer on piles and piles and looking cakey if you wanted to cover your breakouts.

But one brand I heard to stay away from in terms of foundations and pictures is MAC, while I looooove their products they have titanium dioxide? i think which is supposedly nooo good for pictures.

Hi guys, my problem seems to be that i can't find the right shade--- my skin is brown with an olive undertone.... which brands would you guys suggest? I've tried MAC but its kinda orange lol.

(yay, my first post!!)
