The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

If it's for prom, you're probably gonna be taking lots of pictures and from what I hear Make Up Forever is the best when it comes to pictures. I have the Face and Body Liquid foundation and it gives a very "not wearing any makeup" but flawless look. And I also have the Full Cover Concealer which will cover ANYTHING without having to layer on piles and piles and looking cakey if you wanted to cover your breakouts.

But one brand I heard to stay away from in terms of foundations and pictures is MAC, while I looooove their products they have titanium dioxide? i think which is supposedly nooo good for pictures.
Thank you for the recommendations. Unfortunately there are no places that stock MAC near me, which is so annoying.

Hi guys, my problem seems to be that i can't find the right shade--- my skin is brown with an olive undertone.... which brands would you guys suggest? I've tried MAC but its kinda orange lol.

(yay, my first post!!)

I have the same problem. Ben Nye has foundations with strong olive tones. If your skin type allows, L'Oreal true match does the job as well.

^I liked it when my skin wasn't dry so I think it might work well for you

Can anyone recommend a foundation (up to 20 $) for extremly dry skin?

yeah ive heard MAC foundation is crap. but wow is it true that Titanium dioxide is bad for taking pictures? its a mineral ingredient source caus its found in BE and jane iredale mineral makeup. but thinking, i look shiny in pictures...maube thats why but here are he benefits;
Derived from Titanium, which is extracted from the minerals such as rutile and Ilmenite. It gives the greatest covering and tinting power of any white pigment and it is listed in the FDA monograph as one of the purest and most effective active ingredients for sun protection.

I hate my skin tone so much, I tested at least 20 foundations today and nothing matched at all, its either to orangey or too pale. Its so frustrating, I dont want to just settle on anything and end up looking completely stupid but at the same time I need my skin to look good

I was like that for a long time until I tried YSL perfect touch , it's expensive (£28) but it lasts for a very long time I bought mine sometime in January and I've only had to buy a new one now. I've struggled with bad skin in the past and it gives really nice light coverage.

Oh and it uses a brush applicator too ! If you use downward strokes then it is even and doesn't create brush lines or marks :)

what do you guys think about Estee Lauder or Lancome pressed powders? i've been using MAC studio fix and i want to switch to just a pressed powder...i think MAC might actually be the reason ive been breaking out. I heard Lauder is good but i just wanted a few opinions on Estee Lauder and Lancome. help me make my choice of which one to buy...would appreciate the help guys!

if person's skin tone is transculent that it change it undertone depends on different light, how should they choose foundation?
i went to the mac counter today, the lasy tried NC25 (the mineralized foundation) on me. undercertian light it look ok, but undersome light it look like my face is somehow waxed O_O

OK so today I tried a sample of diorskin airflash. It wasn't the best shade for me but it looked good you know all even and it was so quick. But later i noticed a lot of it around the neck of my top. I wasn't wearing a top when I put it on so it had rubbed off. I don't normally wear much foiundation so I never get this. Is this just the way it is with airflash? Is there always too much? Or did I do it wrong?

Try to apply the airflash with tiny strokes with a latex sponge so it absorbs on the skin with the least amount of product ;)

^yes, that is what I'd to too. When I tried the Dior Airbrush for the first time I simply sprayed it on and I thought "OMG, who would want to look like this?"
It's too "heavy" to spray it directly on the skin ;)

I always have problems with foundation and I really want to find a good one for me.

I'm quite pale, although I don't have sheet-white skin. Lately I'm using Dior's Pure Light in the lighter shade, 100 Ivory, but I find it a little bit yellow for me, so I guess I have pink undertones.

I want to know if there is another brand with very light colours that would suit me. I've tried MAC ones, but they don't match my skintone well and NW15 and NC15 are too dark for me. I've thought about Givenchy, because the colours seem pretty pale. Is it a good choice?
