The First Vogue or Other Fashion Magazine You Bought?

My first Vogue was the December 2009 issue. The contents were mostly from Annie Leibovitz and it was her peak moments there I guess. Nothing spectacular to say but one specific eds featuring Lily Cole and Andrew Garfield was fantastic.

This was the first Vogue Hommes that I purchased, from fall 2001. I don't recall much about the menswear inside, but I do recall an edit with a bunch of nearly naked people, which was supposed to look like a sexy swingers party from the 70's & 80's. They also had another edit where the models were dressed up as pimps & prostitutes from, like, Harlem (shot by who else? Terry Richardson). Good times!

I can't remember which Vogue/fashion mag was my actual first because I had a habit of buying a handful together, but the first one I can actually remember falling into my hands was Vogue UK February 1996 (covered by Amber Valletta)

My very first fashion magazine ever was Harper’s Bazaar US - September 2004, with Gisele Bündchen on the cover.

I bought it after watching Taxi (I love Queen Latifah, so… LOL) back in high school. Gisele was in the movie, and I was like, “Damn, this woman is unreal!”
Funny thing is, I wasn’t even into fashion at all at that time. But once I flipped through that issue, something just clicked.

Then I saw this page

Antlers on her head, and somehow… it screamed wearable art, not Halloween costume.

I didn’t even fully understand why, but I was hooked.
It wasn’t just clothes.
It was fantasy.
It was storytelling.
It was art and I was all in.

That was the moment I started realizing how fashion could make you fantasize about beauty, through clothes, through styling, through the creative process behind it, through the whole visual universe.

I didn’t even know the names at that time, the model, the photographer, the stylist, the designer, the makeup artist. But I knew whatever this was, I wanted more of it.

Kinda dramatic, but yeah... that one issue really changed the way I see things. 😂

And that’s how the obsession slowly began.
LOL

My first British Vogue issue was the MARCH 2005 Issue with Kate Moss By Patrick Demarchelier. I got a subscription for my birthday from my parents in January and so the first issue I received was this in the February. I was 13!

For AMERICN VOGUE...I remember seeing a Diferent cover than the one I had received in the mail in a big Newsagents in my nearest City, and it was AUGUST 2006 - Linda Evangelista...I bought it and went back every month to get the next issue, the next issue being Kristin Dunst's MARIE ANTOINETTE September '06 Cover, I discovered it JUST at the right time!

I have every single issue of both of these since, and have subsequently gone back and bought the back issues so have everything from January 2000 - Now.

US Vogue May 2007 by Steven Meisel with Lily Donaldson, Hilary Rhoda, Doutzen Kroes, Sasha Pivovarova, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Chanel Iman, and Agyness Deyn is the first Vogue I've ever bought. So much memories with this one

My mother bought the iconic April 1993 issue of US Vogue for my sister and me. We became obsessed and saved up our allowance to buy the equally iconic September 1993 US Vogue with Linda on the cover. ❤️
