The Hair "Down There"

Ok all this shaving talk inspired us to start a poll on the subject. We were just curious to see how many people were hairy or not. The results of this poll were surprising. Most people (at least in The Beauty Brains community) were shaving it all off.

Laser it all off for heavens sake. Although unless you are a pow, you wont know worse pain (hopefully, touch wood)

It's also incredibly expensive as well as painful :p

Between waxed and natural I don't care, people should do whatever they like better. But if you ask me hair is ALWAYS better than shaving. It's impossible to shave and get it close enough and not have red nasty bumps, I don't care what anybody says.

Laser is quick and convenient, but works best if you have dark hairs/fair skin. Since the laser targets the darker pigments you need as big a difference as possible between hair/skin colour to get good results. If you're fair/fair or dark/dark it might not work all that well, if at all...

And if you do laser it off, you can't go back if you change your mind...

I wax to somewhere in between bikini and brazillian, and then trim, I often think of lasering it off, but i dont really know enough about it, and i sometimes wonder if it can do you any harm etc?

Things like shaving, depilatories, and epillation aren't impacted by the age of your skin. Young skin is perfectly well suited for all of these processes.

The only time it matters that your skin is young is when it comes to UV exposure. It is better for younger people to use sunscreens than older people. And that's just because it will help prolong the length of time that you have nice skin. Once it's old skin, there's not much you can do to make it better.

ohhhh ok, thankyou for the advice. I am glad it is ok! hehe thanks again. :flower:

Hmmm... I don't know what's going on! I've been shaving 'down there' for about a year with just soap with no problem (no ingrowns, no red bumps) but all of a sudden, now whenever I shave it's just painful the next few days and the hair is growing back so thick and rough. :yuk: I'm thinking it may be because of the Omega-3 capsules I've been taking, which also seems to be making my hair on my head grow a lot faster as well. Anyways...

I guess shaving isn't an option anymore. What should I ask for for Christmas? ;) I've heard a lot of talk about epilators on here. What exactly are they/what do they do, what are some of the best ones, etc? Also, what are other options for me besides epilators? Do home waxing kits really work? Help!

Google 'Merkin'

Hehehe...
my brother got a terrible haircut in high school and we all started calling him merkin...
He couldn't stand it and would turn so red.
I will have to remind him of that, thank you.:p

I am terrified of lasers.
For so many reasons, one of which was reading an interview with Linda Evangelista who said she went to the best laser person in NYC and her burned her face!! I would just be too scared...

lol, poor thing!

I wax at home, I love it! I've been doing it for years though and have my technique down. I use Nad's. It's a cold wax, not hot so it isn't messy.
