I've read Hermes never loans or gives away items...
That's cool! :flower: Makes me feel sooo much better about my Hermes bags purchases!

Sometimes I suspect some fashion houses gave away their latest bags to celebs so as to create a hype...

GEMINI: If she had shoes in the bag, you betcha they were Manolos:p Maybe another diamond necklace on loan...

 Sharon is great, and her green Croc Kelly is too....but I don't think she thinks she gets anything on loan..they "give" it to her... I've read Hermes never loans or gives away items...[/quote]

Do you think she actually bought it or someone gave it to her? As a "thankyou" perhaps?

!!!an important question for all you frequent flyers - when hermes has a boutique at the airport in a city (copenhagen, paris, tokyo, zurich, etc. etc.) do any of those sell purses, or do they only carry ties, scarves, perfume, etc.?

No bags. Scarves, ties, etc.

That would be a very nice thank you gift!! Maybe it was a part of her Basic Instinct 2 wardrobe? She got to keep all the jewels and clolthes from that shoot.

thank you jane. that is not good news, but thank you for answering my question. i can't think of a better way to spend layover or general airport time. but oh well.

Sharon Stone's green croc kelly is AMAZING   !!! What is the exact color of that bag? It will be interesting to see if she carries that exact bag in Basic Instinct II. Now, I won't go see that movie but I hope anyone who does will let us all know.

Jane I agree with you about Sharon being a shrewd businesswoman. I bet you she's keeping everything she wore or carried or even touched  in that movie.

Katcy - tell your DH that it'll never go away...

Cameo - I'm w/ you... I don't think that I could never part w/ my bags either. I love them too much!

Baghag21 - nice list! kinda reminds me of Kou's list!

Pigleto - Is the $6k for the kelly pochette or kelly elan? And is that for regular or exotic? TIA!

Hiheels - The US international airport Hermes boutiques do carry purses but they tend to be of the "garden tote" variety. Hope that helps.

GeminijscHermes - That's not necessarily true. I do recall a very old rag article - citing that Kimora Lee Simmons once recieved a nice "present" fr. a local Hermes boutique. However it was not the $100K carryall that she was coveting earlier.

Hiheels - in that case, I can give you a report later this year.

hmmm, the question is, will you beat me to it. :ninja:

Some boutiques are much better than others depending on the airport. If you like scarves, esp. pleated ones, you might do well with the exchange rate. Where are you going? It always pays to take a look, you never know what you might find. However, know the price at the US boutique, because the bargain may not be a "bargain":flower: When I looked at the Duty Free in NYC prior to going to Italy, there were no "bargains"

I guess one never knows what is true and what isn't true when it comes to press. However, I don't think giving a really good (famous) customer such as Kimora or Linda E. a bag isn't all that bad. What I read, a long time ago, said if a starlet wants a bag she has to pay for it, in a nutshell.

I'm only in it for the bags.
we're going to switzerland, where they seem to have an hermes store on every corner. ;)
but they also have boutiques listed at the airport we are passing through, and how heavenly perfect would it be to find an hermes purse there, just, oh, say the exact one i might want, duty free.
now do you mean to say, jane, that they raise the prices to compensate for duty free???

hey hermes lemming (i LOVE your tfs name :) ) the 6050 price in bazaar was for the mini black kelly with gold hardware, i believe it was box leather but it didn't say...i love the mini cos it's such a cutie sized version of the classic bag but the price is

good luck with the hermes shops, hiheels, i missed the hermes store in cdg when i was flying out of paris...

I have never seen a leather bag in an airport shop. I would never expect to find a Kelly/Birkin. Believe me, I look even though I know it is fruitless. I can't explain it, but sometimes there are better buys at different places. Now with the dollar down against the euro there might not be such a great savings. It has to be something you really want and perhaps were not finding at home. I wouldn't get my hopes up. There are other things to look for at some other duty free shops that might be better and even then, it might not be any bargain. We all tend to pick something up as a keepsake of our trip. I purchased a Missoni scarf at the Venice airport and came home to find it at Neiman Marcus for $10 more. Years ago I found a Hermes pleated scarf that was one of their classics and at a great price, but it was 2000 and the dollar was really up. It was at the Lisbon duty free boutique. You will do the best at a real boutique, even tho the euro is up, when you can get the VAT refunded to you . The next trick will be bringing it in the country and not paying duty:lol:

box is more expensive though, isn't it? i mean it is not the same for a mini as for a "regular" size kelly, if the bigger kelly is in the same leather and hardware, it is more. and the mini has its distinctive appeal (i'm focussing on an everyday bag, so the mini doesn't do it for me).
the trip isn't for a while, but i'll see what there is to see :D

Thanks, Pigleto972001! Yes, the mini is quite adorable. It's one of JPG's genius moments, don't you say?

Hiheels - I have no idea.. the way things are looking, it'll probably be either summer - early fall.
