I think it's a 40. I'm her size and the 35 doesn't look as oversized as the one she has.

I agree, it's a 40......

I've been away and have been catching up on all your posts.....Good to see the site is back up and running. :D

I REALLY think Ashley's Birkin is a 35cm.She has it severely streched out though.

please help. can someone explain mou, supple and rigid? i thought i understood supple v. rigid, more or less. but what is mou? are all three available in any leather, or are they actually leather-specific? sorry of the onslaught of questions. looking forward to clarification :flower:

ps i am very underqualified to judge, but olsen's birkin has to be 35 if carolyn bessette kennedy carried a 40. if this little girl carried a 40, well first i doubt she has the strength to do so, but i think we could put her inside of one.

This is how my SA explained it to me, if any one else thinks the info is incorrect, please let us know:flower:........She said that the terms souple and rigide are reserved for kellys. It has to do with the construction technique (the way it's stitched) and makes the bag firm and boxy (rigide) or soft and casual (souple). She used the term mou which means soft for bags like the bolide, and it has to do with the characteristics of the leather. For example a clemence bolide would be mou while a chevre bolide would be more structured even though they are sewn the same way.
I hope that's correct:flower:

I saw some beautiful bags the other day, a fjord bolide in sapphire (what an amazing blue:heart::heart:) and a kelly pouchette in matte black croc with palladium:woot::heart::heart:. Still thinking about that one but I best stay away from thoughts like that:lol:!! They also had two chevre 28 kellys, one in raisin and the other in cyclamen. It was like a candy store in there!!

this one does look like it could 35cm all pulled out...

This one looks like it could be a 40cm...Ash, the 20 pound girl, is holding onto the Range Rover because a 40cm would be way heavy for such a small person! :p

YES! I am guilty of staring:D Went shopping today...looked at so many bags!!! but ended up with shoes and clothes...whenever I grew slightly interested in any of the bags I saw all I could think of is this money would be better spent on the Kelly Longue:D or any other Hermes for that matter. I am hopeless!

Hello to all the ladies(and gentlemen?)
I am new to this tread and TFS in general but I would like to ask for some recommendation, because I would like to get a Birkin for my mother to celebrate her big big birthday.

We have Hermes bags in several different kinds of leather and colors, like black croc etc. Apparently my grandmother bought quite a few luxury goods when she lived in Europe and Hong Kong.

But I feel that those bags are really "grand" and not suitable for everyday use and my mother only uses these kellys and birkins in big events.
After looking at the pictures, I really like how young(lol) the white colored birkin looks so I think maybe it would be nice for my mom? She is a lady approaching 60, but she looks ten years younger like she is in her late 40s.
My mom is not big on fashion either...(well, she doesn't do those colorful floral prints or stripes...)

Of course, getting on the wait list is hard since it is closed, perhaps never opening again. I am not sure how to go about it because we have not ordered anything huge from Hermes for over 15 years. (only some clothes and a few pairs of shoes) But I know some family friends who are VIPs for Hermes and luxury shops however it is kind of strange to bother them. It is asking for a huge favor and I am not sure how to start.

Anyway, what kind of leather should I get? I really like the white color but would you think it is too trendy?

Do Hermes do exchange if she does not like the bag?

(Buying presents are the hardet thing ever possible.)

When I first got my birkin, I was staring at it on the seat next to me at a red light and I guess my foot slipped off the brake and I hit the guy in front of me:blush:. Didn't dare tell that to the police:lol:

You are not crazy and that is a beautiful bag:flower:

does anyone know if gemznjewels.com sell authentic birkins...i read about it in instyle and surprised they mentioned it..since i saw a chanel that looked fake..

Cameo, LuxChic, Angela, GeminijscHermes - I can relate to the... affection. I could totally see sideswiping a car or tapping a pedestrian if a new Hermes was my passenger. I adore my purse and when I find myself with nothing to read and time on my hands - dr's office, stuck in traffic, etc. I happily admire my purse.

It's not a Birkin, but there is a BEAUTIFUL white Kelly (35 cm togo leather) with blue piping and a blue interior (silver hardware) at the King of Prussia store. Truly Gorgeous! I like the Kelly in white better than the Birkin only because the Kelly is a bit dressier and that bodes well for a white bag in general...the Birkin is a more of a tote, and it will likely get dirtier. Having the blue interior and piping was really unique (and practical for the inside of the bag). It looks like completed eBay auction 6844744615 except "blue jean" instead of red.

White is certainly in now, but I don't think white ever really goes out of style.:flower:

But if you're set on a Birkin, I think all lists are closed for now, however since the summer's coming (and white bags are coming in) you may want to go in to a boutique, describe your desires and maybe you can get put on a list for any white Birkins that were ordered but the customer decided to not take. Oh, and wear one of your Hermes bags into the store when you go!!;) - Seriously!

As far as I know, Hermes has a 10 day exchange/store credit only policy. I was told that orders for white (regardless of style) takes longer than other colors. HTH!
