HLemming, I watched a rerun and I think that what I thought was a Hermes plisse was actually part of the designers outfit. I would definitely give him points because it certainly looked pleated like a Hermes plisse scarf.

Luba, that he actually found a black bolide is very impressive. I would think that it is hard to find anything in a Hermes bag in black. For so many people, it is their first choice in a bag and the color purchases only come later. How exciting for you:) You must let us all know all about it!

Leyla, that is kind of funny, no Kellys in Kelly country:) Have you been to the exhibition? It supposed to be great.

Gemini, amazing as it seems, the items on Bluefly do appear to be authentic. I know of some other people on another board that have purchased and stated that the scarves and bags are authentic! The real question is, where do they come from??? I can understand scarves, gloves and bath towels but bags???Even the Duty Free shops rarely have bags and certainly not Birkins. Hey!!!maybe they are Miller sister rejects LOL! Doesn't he own most or all of the Duty Free shops? I thought that is how he made his $$$.

 Miller sister rejects...Though I think you are correct in it being owned by their family....I have no idea other than those girls where those bags would come from!!!!??? I thought Hermes would just as well destroy a bag than to let it be sold elsewhere and at a reduced price!!!

jane,
of course i have been :)
how could i have missed that!! the most amazing exhibit ive been to. as if grace kelly was there herself

I find it kind of sad that they only use pics of when she was very young. Even though she didn't age well it would have been nice to see the real woman instead of the continuing fairy tale.

jane,
the exhibition was of her entire life ... are we talking about the same one?

uniq,
i wouldnt know either. my lizard one is vintage and im also wanting to get a plain dark one. but not at full price.. a vintage will do :)

^^We are. I am obviously mistaken in my impression of what they were showing. I gleaned my info from the print coverage which must have been slightly skewed. I suppose they didn't want to print the pics of the older princess as the younger was more glam.

Re the Constance. Ladies I have one that is a vintage and I would warn you to look for cracking on the folds. My new one is not box so don't have that issue. The vintage ones on the resale market are usually good buys. I think outside of any dryness to leather and excessive scratching to the H you can find a good buy.

So I got the black Bolide yesterday. It is a beautiful bag, but I can't help but think that I should get a Birkin in black and a Bolide in another color. I'm so conflicted because hubby went to all this trouble to get exactly what I asked for, and now I'm having doubts. Talk to me!

Luba - keep the black Bolide!

I'm heading to Paris this weekend ... so maybe I'll try my luck and see if I can land a 35cm Birkin. I have a 30cm in gold and a 32cm rouge garance Kelly, but I want a 35 for work. Doubt they'll have black, but maybe raisin? Or etoupe? What's another good neutral?

Thanks. I think I will, especially since it's a gift. I have a 35 etoupe, and absolutely love it. I haven't seen it in person, but others have said that ebene is a good color - really dark brown, almost black. Good luck in Paris - the new store is amazing.

Luba, keep that black Bolide! It is very chic and and really good when traveling. The zipper keeps it very secure.

Raisin is a great color and goes with everything. I have two raisin bags and am on the lookout for a raisin Kelly to join them! Ebene is a great color, but it is an alternative to black. Do you want color? With the black Bolide, could do anything:)

My favorite would be a black Birkin 35cm with contrasting red stitches, but what are the odds that I'll come across that w/o ordering ... so I would be happy with another neutral color like etoupe or raisin or ebene. I'm planning to try my luck tomorrow and Friday.

Ebene is a lovely color...I've been in a brown mood of the late......I love brown with gold hardwear!!

Although I haven't enquired personally, rumours on TPF have it that Ebene won't be carried for 2008. Such a shame as its a favourite brown for me too.

I love all the sweet feedback I have received re. my yen for an Etoupe Clemence birkin - just like our dear leyla_M's! However, although I am a pale brunette, I like Jane Tudor, tend to wear very little colour, typically wearing a palette of greys, black and white, with a bit of khaki, olive and navy thrown in for good measure. In summer I'll wear a more colourful tweed jacket but I am now worried that with my wardrobe choices the etoupe might be a bit blahh on me - I am so not tanned either! I am still torn between rouge garance and etoupe for the moment but actually kind of enjoying this little dilemma.

Concerning, the shade graphite you might be interested to know that my Hermes RTW SA thought that my black Togo birkin was graphite! I've not seen graphite in real life but it must be really dark!

Grill, I share your exact dilemma regarding the etoupe, but I think I might take the plunge! If you can get some contrast stitching or sheen to the leather, I think it might work as long as you have some color, i.e. scarf on your person. I have seen that about ebene as well. Time will tell.

I have seen graphite, and in togo/clemence (not sure which leather it was) it was somewhat disappointing to me. I guess I like things to be more definite looking and the "off black" aspect just did not send vibes my way. If I had to choose between graphite or black in a Birkin/Kelly I would have to go with black. However, I have seen graphite in croc and that is fabulous! It is all about the skin and how it takes the color.

Tiger, very hot choice of the red contrast stitching! That would be interesting for sure!

Gosh, I hope that isn't true....You never know with Hermes when a color will go or pop back up again!!!
