The Hills

and i was right about laurens dress! the one she received at the beginning was the same one she wore to the ball. (someone on livejournal also said it )

 I just checked and the dress she wore to the ball was not the same one she was given at the beginning. The dress she was given was the one she ruined.

I'm so glad the mtv.com site works for those outside the US now, before visiting the thread I visited the site to see if it would work, praying for it to work and it did, yay!

-I can't take Spedi storylines seriously as it is, but Heidi's lips were a funny distraction!

-Loved the way Lauren fitted her first AF dress to wear to the club.

-So funny when Lauren called Brody scum in french!

-Yeah there were loads of obviously staged bits, but I loved it anyway, as usual!

^rachy, I was absolutely transfixed by Heidi's lips too! I'm not even sure what happened in that entire scene....:ninja:

10 Questions for The Hills

Mar 25, 2008 @ 3:03pm

Because you knew it had to happen...
10. Hey girls, how’d you get Karl Lagerfeld's bodyguard to pick you up from the airport?
9. Who has let Whitney intern at W without saying "Givenchy" ?!
8. How much did Alberta Ferretti pay for that product placement? And how hard is Annelise Peterson smiling right now?
7. Natalie wants me to discuss Heidi's plastic surgery, but I have a better issue: Has anyone else noticed that Heidi’s face in the opening credits is like two seconds long, compared to the five seconds for Whitney, Audrina, and Lauren?
6. Who noticed the paparazzi shooting Lauren as she left Colette?
5. Raise your hand if you prefer Whitney naked, and not in a Ferretti ballgown?
4. How much weight has Spencer gained?!!!!
3. Wait, Lauren: 20 minutes is a SHORT shower?
2. Why doesn't someone take the snow shovel and hit Spencer with it? Over the head?
***At this point in the program, Faran would like to point out that when she went to Paris last year to work for Teen Vogue, she took the Metro everywhere and had no driver… and had no itinerary… though Vogue and Teen Vogue’s Paris bureau staff were unbelievable and amazing. I feel bad for Lauren and Whitney that they weren't introduced to them; they massively missed out. And now, back to the show***
1. Indie rock bands just sort of hang at the Plaza Athenee? What?
0. Raise your hand if you screamed to the television, "Lauren, do not wear your ballgown to a nightclub"?!
-1. OMG chest hair. OMG silly French jealousy. OMG.
-2. Whitney, you thought you’d get to style the Crillon Ball? What?!
-3. So, which MTV producer switched on that curling iron when you weren't looking?
-4. Did anyone else notice they played the same rock song that's in the Sex and the City finale? And that made it sort of a party foul?
-5. Is there a perverse pleasure in watching Whitney and Lauren stand to the side as other rich girls get pampered and photographed at this Crillon Ball?
-6. Did Princess Beatrice sign up for this crap? Oh no, she did not.
-7. "PERHAPS YOU SHOULD PURSUE THAT, WHITNEY" ?!
-8. LC, you already ruined one ball gown and now you're gonna get on a Vespa in another one?
-9. Audrina, why are you letting Heidi into your house? Don't you know Lauren has control issues?
-10. Kelly Cutrone, where have you been all our lives?! YAY!

If you're in the UK, watch it on MTV.com, it worked for me.

Ok, so here are my opinions on the episode
Spoilers below-

I knew the episode was doomed when they couldn't even pronouce Givenchy, I mean come on, please. Thats such a nit-picky thing I have, and they work constantly around fashion, I would be so embarrassed. It made me sick when Lauren got that call from Audrina when she was helping out at the preparations for the Ball- it was like, there she was in Paris and all she could do was have a miserable face and they had to focus on that pathetic drama. She didn't look lshe appreciated the fact that she was a) in Paris and b) a part of the Ball. Also- that singer, Mathias or whatever he was called, I hated how they used him to portray the average/typical 'French man', it really annoyed me. He was so bland and...unattractive imo. I also disliked the use of/ how they were at the Plaza Athénée because thats such an incredibly amazing place and I don't know...I've been put off of it by watching that episode. Obvioulsy the whole Alberta Ferretti thing was irritating too.

I wonder why Alberta Feretti? I mean out of the french houses they could have gone
to, they pick an italian brand? But I guess Feretti paid a hefty sum for the plug...

I need to start watching this.I always forget about shows and then when I go to watch them I'm totally lost due to missing so many episodes.

Can I watch full episodes on mtv.com?

the only reason i dont think the dress thing was staged is because of laurens total panic when she realized what had happened. the tears sprung pretty quickly. so i dont know...

yes! it was a really pretty light blue ,light light blue and the burns were brown! several different places.

^^ Yogini I thought that too. I don't think Lauren's that good at acting. She seemed pretty genuine in her reaction.

harriet - that review is hilarious!

I was yellling at the TV when they could not pronounce Givenchy...I was like you want to work in fashion and you cannot pronounce the name of a fashion legend?

When they were at the club, Lauren's date to the ball was holding a red drink next to her...I so thought it was going to spill onto her dress :o And the second dress...I thought she was going to burn that one too...this time on the tail pipe of the vespa she rode on.

All of the Spencer scenes with Heidi's parents were so awkward! Spencer did look wretched - he really should have taken his sister's advice and not go to CO. That was actually the first time she was making some sense on the show.

Lol, it was so awkward.

I just got done watching the episode with Marc Jacobs and now I'm starting the first episode of season 3 where Lauren yells at Heidi :)

I love the hills, but I found this and I thought it was hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahah

The HILLS DRINKING game!

TAKE A SIP WHENEVER...

Spencer uses the word "bro."
Justin Bobby is wearing an article of clothing he could have reasonably purchased from a girl's clothing store.
Justin Bobby is wearing an article of clothing he could have reasonably stolen from a Mexican day laborer.
Audrina looks as if someone just asked her for the fifth third digit of pi. (Note: This will get you wasted.)
Spencer acts in a plainly manipulative fashion. (Note: This will get you wasted.)
Stephanie Pratt demonstrates that she might actually be more manipulative than her brother.
Either the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe is invoked as a metaphor for love in Paris.
Whitney prefaces or ends a sentence with "You know?"
Similarly: Whitney scrunches her face in a failed attempt to convey emotion and/or thought.
Spencer inverts an argument to shift the burden of guilt onto someone else.
Lauren claims she needs a "boy" to help her get over Brody Jenner. (Bonus sip if MTV producers immediately cut to Brody surrounded by a gaggle of trashy L.A. skanks.)
Lauren reminds Audrina that she should hate Heidi because Lauren hates Heidi.
Brent Bolthouse promotes his club-promoting company.
Justin Bobby is wearing a wool skull cap despite the fact that it's 80 degrees and sunny outside.
Justin Bobby is wearing sunglasses and/or a hat despite the fact that he's indoors.

TAKE A GULP WHENEVER...
Vogue West Coast editor Lisa Love says something condescending.
Lauren "accidentally" runs into Heidi or Spencer at Les Deux, LAX, or Hyde.
Lisa Love reminds Whitney or Lauren how lucky they are to be working at a place as prestigious as Teen Vogue.
Jen Bunny is referred to as "Jen Bunny" instead of just "Jen."
Heidi trots around in a bikini.
Frankie Delgado shows up.
TAKE A GULP WHENEVER Frankie Delgado shows up (Photo: Courtesy of MTV) Justin Bobby hits on a random girl in front of Audrina.
Spencer makes a Spencer face.
A coworker of any Hills star acts either disgusted by or sycophantic toward said Hills star.
Whitney asks Lauren to "recap" a previous night/incident. ("So what happened last night?" is an acceptable permutation.)
Lauren chides Audrina for dating Justin Bobby.
Lo takes credit for coining the name "Justin Bobby."
Lo or Lauren note that Justin Bobby hates the name "Justin Bobby."
Lo demonstrates that she's probably the smartest of the bunch by saying something kind of funny.

TAKE A GULP WHENEVER

Lo demonstrates that she's probably the smartest of the bunch by saying something kind of funny You think to yourself, "Hey, Lo would be kind of attractive if God hadn't placed her eyes so close to one another."
Either Brody or Spencer mention how they used to be friends with one another but aren't anymore.
Justin Bobby says something that would reasonably lead you to believe he is drunk, stoned, or under the influence of a mind-altering substance.
Whitney gives Lauren a backhanded compliment, asks an awkward question ("Wait, are you going to Paris?"), or seems to revel in delivering bad news to Lauren.
Spencer tells Heidi just how much he dislikes Lauren.
Lauren blames Spencer for the dissolution of her friendship with Heidi. (Example: "He brainwashed her.")
The gals eat Pinkberry.

Finish your drink when

Audrina, Whitney, Lauren, or Heidi cry.
Lauren says something to Audrina that gives you the distinct feeling that she really doesn't like her.
Heidi and Lauren confront each other about how much they hate one another and are totally never going to be friends again, like, ever.
Stephanie Pratt pledges loyalty to Spencer in a way that seems more than sisterly
Lo, Lauren, or Audrina are on a date where the awkward silence-to-talking ratio is better than 70:30.
MTV producers ignore the occasional "fat friend" by refusing to frame her in the shot or cutting off her lines.
Justin Bobby goes home with another girl in front of Audrina.
Justin Bobby denies going home with another girl, despite the fact that Audrina totally watched him do it.
Spencer awkwardly interacts with Heidi's parents.
Spencer and Heidi decide to get engaged again.
FINISH YOUR DRINK WHENEVER Justin Bobby denies going home with another girl, despite the fact that Audrina totally watched him do it

DRINK EVERYTHING IN SIGHT IF...
A verbal argument between Spencer and Heidi ends in blows, requiring producers to intervene like that one time they did when Paula went totally nuts on Real World: Key West.
Lauren visits Jason in jail; conjugal visit ensues.
Audrina renews her subscription to the Economist.
Brody catches a DUI on the way back from Les Deux.
A black character speaks! (Don't worry, this has only happened once.)
