MTV has announced the premiere of Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County -- the fourth season of MTV's Laguna Beach docu-reality series, which has moved up the California coast to Newport Beach and will feature a cast of seven new high-school aged students.

Newport Harbor is scheduled to premiere Wednesday, August 15 at 10:30PM ET/PT on MTV.

Although the show's filming had already obviously already been underway for some time, MTV had previously announced that it had decided to order a fourth Laguna Beach fourth edition set at "another unnamed Orange County school" of Laguna Beach in mid-June.

Ironically, Newport Beach had also served as the fictional setting of The O.C. -- the recently-canceled Fox drama that had originally served as Laguna Beach's inspiration.

"Now we are moving up the coast to a new town with new faces and a new high school, but with the same drama of dealing with relationships, cliques, family and friends," said Tony DiSanto, MTV's executive vice president of series development and programming. "The real OC is a beautiful backdrop to this universal story and this year we go back to the heart of the drama... that wistful last year of school."

Liz Gateley is creator and executive producer of Newport Harbor, with DiSanto, Gary Auerbach, and Kathryn Takis also serving as executive producers.

The seven high-school students starring in Newport Harbor -- as well as their frequently over-the-top MTV-supplied bios -- are:

Chrissy

Pretty and popular, Chrissy is a senior who grew up in Newport Beach and is lifelong friends with Sasha and Grant. An only child to doting parents, Chrissy has recently blossomed into a head-turning high school senior. As smart as she is beautiful, Chrissy has three colleges to pick from as she prepares to leave the family nest. While everything seems to be going her way, Chrissy longs for the one thing that has eluded her: a boyfriend. Now that the hottest guy in school a junior named Clay who also happens to be her neighbor has taken an interest in her, Chrissy appears headed for a storybook romance. Along the way she'll need to navigate roadblocks including an overprotective dad and rivals for Clay's affection.

Clay

Clay is a junior and although shy with girls, he is regarded as Newport Harbor's hottest guy. Born and raised in Newport, he takes full advantage of his oceanfront playground. Whether he's fishing from his own speed boat off Balboa Island or surfing at one of Newport's famous breaks, Clay catches girls' glances wherever he goes. Clay's humble attitude belies his looks and he often turns to Grant, his gregarious friend, for a boost of confidence. While it seems Clay could have any girl he wants, his shyness has kept him from having a relationship. But when Clay develops real feelings for Chrissy and she responds accordingly- it could be his chance to break out.

Allie

A stunning senior, Allie is the girl that all the boys want and all the girls want to be. She seems to have it all: a beautiful home on the tip of Balboa Peninsula, carte blanche with her dad's credit cards, and a hip family restaurant in which she holds parties for dozens of her friends. But all this wealth and confidence masks a vulnerable side to Allie. She may be a huge flirt with the boys, including Clay, but Allie really longs to rekindle romance with her seventh-grade boyfriend, Chase. Apart from romantic challenges, Allie struggles with leaving her privileged life behind as she prepares to strike out on her own.

Taylor

While it looks like Taylor just walked off the pages of Sports Illustrated, she is really just a sophomore in high school. When she's not with girls her own age Taylor hangs out with Chrissy's clique. The boys have taken notice of Taylor and the attention presents many challenges for this fragile girl. She wants to be serious with her boyfriend, Chase, but he seems to have an eternally wandering eye. When other boys, including Chase's arch rival Grant, show an interest in Taylor she is torn.

Sasha

A loyal childhood friend and neighbor, Sasha is part of Chrissy's inner circle. Blonde and beautiful, Chrissy and Sasha share a passion for tennis and are partners on the high school team. Their heart to heart talks often occur courtside between matches where Sasha gives Chrissy advice about how to get closer to Clay. Apart from scholastic achievement and school crushes, the girls also share a value system instilled by their strict parents.

While I understand that MTV maybe have wanted to freshen things up with some new people in a new city, I'm not too sure it was the best decision. I was hoping to have LB back w/ Kyndra & Cami etc. I tried watching this after the premier of the Hills on Monday night, and I just couldn't get through the episode! Maybe I was too tired or something?

How do you guys feel about MTV making this change and the new cast? The first episode can be seen here.

Can someone put this on youtube? ..cant watch it outside the u.s

Yeah it wasn't too good. Chrissy needs braces (and possibly a personality) and Allie's very pretty if her hair wasn't so bleached and fried. Clay is probably the most attractive guy the "Real Orange County" series has seen, and Chase and Grant remind of my guy friends...in junior high. I think in seasons one and two, relationships were more genuine versus just being random hookups where some of the girls get too inolved, so I think this show will be as popular as season three, but won't reach the level the first two seasons did. All this of course is based just on that boring first episode.

Clay is really cute. Chase is also good looking. This group seems more mature. The first 2 seasons they had the rivalries between the cliques, whereas these people seem to all be friends. It was only the first episode though. I felt bad for Chrissy when her parents started yelling at her though. :(

god this show is so addicting. i hate the people on the show because they're all rather spoiled and self-centered [everyone in LB and in NH] but i can't stop watching this. it's like a really bad car crash that you can't take your eyes off.

I watched to first episode and it was sooooo boring

All those girls were annoying except Chrissy who looks a bit more real and down to earth. The guys are not even that good looking actually they look a bit like dummies.
I might give this show another try this week and if it still sucks like the first episode I'll be done with this show.

I miss the original LB with Lauren,Kristin,Talan.....:(

Does anyone know the song they played at the end of the episode when Allie went to Clay's house?

i thought Chrissy was annoying. her teeth were freakishly white and she always had that psycho-killer smile.

in last season of Laguna Beach, i don't even remember half the people's name there. i only remember the first two season, because those were the best ones.
but i'm glad to get rid of Kami. she was mean and wasn't even hot

We've only had previews of Newport, but
1) Is MTV a music channel or a real estate channel, and
2) The kid who said she was gonna disown her parents if she doesn't go to Europe? I will kick that spoiled girl's *ss into the middle of next week.

wasn't that my Super Sweet Sixteen with that Harry Potter obsessed girl
totally agree, MTV has become less music, more reality tv and commercials.

I agree with you!!^_^

I don't know only the first 2 seasons were good, the 3rd one was awful (people wise and drama (i can't believe i said "drama") wise .

I think it seems really boring so far and I can't stand Chrissy's voice. All the girls and guys look the same so I keep getting confused as to what is happening (not that anything interesting has happened). And why do all the girls have such overprocessed hair? It looks so terrible with their black roots/eyebrows. I don't think I'll watch again. Unlike the first two seasons of Laguna Beach this cast seems a lot younger and even more inarticulate (if that's even possible). Is it wrong of me to be bored by their wealth? It's like range rover, yawn. Daddy's credit card, zzzzz.

I just watched the first episode on MTVoverdrive and it's okay, I guess. Not smashing, but not completely bad either. Like someone said before, it's kinda Laguna Beach meets the OC.
Chrissy's voice is annoying, but she seems sweet and not quite as fake as the others. I feel so bad for her having such strict parents.

I watch this too...LOL...Chrissy annoys me...I mean is her dad for real with how strict he is! I didn't even realize she is a senior...wow...back off a little...

He definitely screwed up her chances with Clay...and what's up with no dark haired girls on these shows...can't we have one...LOL

I'll say on the brunette thing-I tried watching an episode of it but they all look alike.
Hell, my friends and I bet money on the first person who can spot a different race...

Something small like that would really give the show the edge it needs...but I suppose the reality is that in these Cali ritzy communities everyone is bleached out and white as hell.

^^^

very true. i went up to Laguna Beach and everyone is Caucasian. the standard of living is incredibly high. but i agree some colour on the show would edge it out, but sadly no one wants to watch a show about middle class high school minorities with problems. though Kami was a b**ch most of the time, i was happy to see that she wasn't white or at least fully. and that other girl, the half asian one from season 3. forgot her name but she narrated the season.
