The Hunger Games Thread

Trailer looks amazing and I happy that they didn't show more even we know what happens.

I haven't read the book but the trailer looks really interesting so maybe I will read the book after all...when does the movie come out btw?

and acording to Lionsgate, 'catching fire', the second movie , will be released on November 22, 2013.

^I know... it seems like so far off in the distance. :( But I'm sure it won't feel that way once it's 2012. I'm always amazed how film companies can announce release dates for movies that haven't even been made yet. It boggles my mind. But hey, I guess they are just trying to stake a claim on a really good weekend.
Also I just had this thought and I really hope it's true; wouldn't it be great if Lenny Kravitz did a song for The Hunger Games soundtrack? Like it could be in the ending credits or something (because I don't really picture songs with lyrics being used throughout the movie. Except for when Katniss sings to Rue and whatnot). But it would be great to see Lenny write a song/sing for the movie. It would make it even more epic.^_^

i thought it was only the poster, but i'm totally mistaking banks for rachel m. even throughout the trailer. so weird.

^Yeah I see what you mean too.... Elizabeth does look a little like Rachel. I like how they did the makeup and the costumes for Effy though. It's totally like what I imagined; very couture like and extreme fashions especially compared to those from District 12.

I'm curious how they are going to bring the mess that is Mockingjay to the screen. It's such a downer of a book.

i actually think the third book will be great on screen, the second one i'm more concerned about, the first third or so was mind-bogglingly boring

Jennifer's a great actress but looks far too robust for a district 12 tribute. In the book you really understand the disadvantage Katniss has due to her malnutrition and slight size. Jennifer looks like she can kick @ss so it won't be so shocking when she actually does.

^Completely agree Alvedansen. The first third of Catching Fire was quite slow. I hope they only have that bit in the movie for 15-30 mins at the most. That way they can focus more on the Quarter Quell. And as for Mockingjay, I think it's a downer of a book but that's part of the whole message of the story. Mockingjay is going to be so sad, that's for sure. Actually, all three of the books/movies are sad in there own way. But I really hope they do Rue's death scene correctly, I just know I'm going to cry buckets!

^^yeah, that's the one thing i still dislike, but i prefer a more "robust" Katniss over one that can't act:innocent::lol:
i really think it will be fine, i'm sure they'll find a way to make the others look far superior

Seriously... I just hope that Finnick's death lasts more than .2 seconds... He was one of my favorite characters!

I just read that Simon Beaufoy (Slumgdog Millionaire, 127 hours, etc) is being courted to write Catching Fire. It's up on several news sources. That would be AMAZING, holy sh!t.

^Wow. That would be amazing. I loved the script for Slumdog Millionaire, it's one of my favorite films. It would be interesting to see him write a script for Catching Fire since it's so different from Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours although all three are stories about overcoming the odds and whatnot.

did i get something wrong or Madge is completely erased from the movies and it's Prim who gives her the bird badge?
