The Hunger Games Thread

I really like Kid Cudi's track too! It's one of the darker ones.

^^The Maroon 5 and Birdy tracks were my faves, too, YoninahAliza. I love the Bluegrass feel of the soundtrack--enough to get a feel of place, but not so much that you're knocked over the head with it. Friday can't get here fast enough!

You said it! They really nailed the soundtrack I think. A lot of the album just feels like it's District 12 because it has a southern/bluegrass vibe. It's interesting how songs can just feel like a place, real or fictional. I hope that last sentence makes sense.

^It's currently on itunes (but I'm sure people have already put the songs on youtube too). Not sure if it's been released in other countries besides the US yet... can anyone else verify this?

Here's the soundtrack list if you want to look up the songs on youtube or whatever...

2. "Eyes Wide Open" by Taylor Swift
3. "Abraham’s Daughter" by Arcade Fire

5. "Run Daddy Run" (feat. Pistol Annies) by Miranda Lambert
6. "Kingdom Come" by The Civil Wars
7. "One Engine" by The Decemberists
8. "Take The Heartland" by Glen Hansard
9. "Lover Is Childlike" by The Low Anthem
10. "Dark Days" by Punch Brothers
11. "Tomorrow Will Be Kinder" by The Secret Sisters
12. "Just a Game" by Birdy

There are few exceptions but in rest the soundtrack is brilliant. I'm really happy they used just instrumentals.

I've booked already tickets for 22nd. It's crazy, the local cinema just posted the info about the movie on their site and in 30 minutes half of the tickets were gone. True is I've booked three tickets but none of my friends is sure they could make it. Gonna go there and watch it alone, like a real fan.

The film is approved for general audience, no ? This means they had to cut some of the hardcore scenes anyway. TBH I am grateful for it because I felt that some scenes were a little over the top in terms of cruelty in the book.

I know they had to cut a few seconds to get it approved in the UK, but it is rated PG-13 in the US without having to edit.

It's not surprising, the books are so gruesome, they would have to tone it down a lot.

Either way, I am holding judgement until I see it.

I wished they held onto some of the gruesome aspects just because it adds to the "reality" of their suffering and the humiliation they go through. I dunno, I just don't like censorship and I didn't feel like it was in the book unnecessarily.

I think some scenes are kind of disturbing (Spoiler: For example, there is blood and neck breaking) but it is not too bad. They found a good balance, in my opinion.
The FSK in Germany is 12 and I think I would have been a bit freaked out at that age but kids these days are probably used to different stuff anyway.

I can't wait to see it again tomorrow.

I´ve got my tickets for tomorrow´s first screening. I can´t wait!! :woot:

i'm going tomorrow after uni with friends, still can't decide whether i should watch it in German or English (unfortunately it has subtitles, and i hate subtitles even more than dubbing=/)

^Watch it in English with subtitles. I didn't even really notice them.

nah, i always notice them and get totally distracted by them. plus, the first German version is at 14.00, the English version at 16.20...i don't think i can wait those two hours:lol:

btw i went to see it today, but 10 min in they had major sound and projection problems and we had to go:( i'll go and watch it tomorrow =/

Oh no. :( I was going to see it today as well but plans fell through. I'm going tomorrow though, I just hope the tickets haven't sold out.

I just saw it. I'm very happy with it :D
The set and costumes are great, katniss' interview red dress is great, it's all about after effects lol
Josh won me over, he wasn't my first choice but plays a proper Peeta.
Rue's death was more moving in the book IMO but there was a girl next to me crying like there was no tomorrow lol
The violence is toned down but what is shown is effective specially at the very beginning of the games.
Jen was great but I never doubted her.

One thing I´ve noticed in the movie that I think wasn´t in the book (if I remember correctly...) is the three fingers goodbye. In the book Rue teaches it to Katniss, doesn´t she? I think it has more impact in the book than in the movie, the way it´s shown...

No in the books District 12 do this gesture for Katniss when she volunteers for Prim. It's a traditional District 12 sign of respect I think. And then Katniss did it to say goodbye to Rue in the arena, I'm pretty sure.

Aah, thanks. I remembered it wrong
I fail to re read the book before watching the movie like I had planned lol
