We're under a month away from it's theatrical release, and the stars of "The Hunger Games" cover the April 2012 issue of Total Film

With a range of still images from the book-based movie included, the in-depth article features comments from Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson and Donald Sutherland.

A rundown of highlights from the "Hunger Games" cast's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to check out Total Film!

Jennifer Lawrence on being talked into taking the role by her mother:
"I always got asked why I did Indies, not studio films, and I said it was about the script, it's not about how big it is, and she was like, 'This is a script you love, a character you love, and you're about to turn it down because of the size of it? You're a hypocrite!'"

Elizabeth Banks on whether she was involved in designing Effie's costumes:
"Of course! Everything you see on Effie is purposeful, nothing is whimsical. As an ambassador for the Capitol I wanted to make it clear Effie is oppressed, so all her clothes are constricting, corseted, uncomfortable. And I wear crazy shoes that you would never be able to spend the 12 hour day in – I wanted her to be tortured by her clothes"

Donald Sutherland on how he first heard about the hunger games:
"I wasn't actually offered a role. The script was given to me, to see what I thought of it, and I wrote an extensive note to my representative, as I thought it was a beautiful script, and it had the possibility to be the most influential film made in this country for many years."

Lenny Kravitz on how he was pitched the role by Gary Ross:
"Well, he said he liked the sensitivity with which I played Nurse John, and that Cinna and Nurse John have similar characteristics of warmth and quietness and so he thought that I would bring out the character well. All I had to do was read it and, y'know, make the decision."

Woody Harrelson on what impressed him most about the shoot:
"Every aspect of the production: wardrobe, hair, makeup. When you see what form it takes, it's amazing, unique and totally original. Even a glass is not just a normal glass, they don't do anything normal. When you get to the Capitol, everything is different – even ice! It's pretty cool."

After seeing Tom Hanks last night @the oscars I thought "man, he looks kinda creepy". I bet he would've been a better President Snow.

The Hunger Games: 6 Secrets You Need to Know

1. Jennifer Lawrence beat half of young Hollywood for the role. Abigail Breslin, Emma Roberts and Hailee Steinfeld were contenders for the part of Katniss Everdeen, which went to Lawrence. Some fans of the books were angry—Katniss is a brunette; Lawrence is blond. But director Gary Ross laughed them off. “We can easily deal with Jennifer’s hair color,” he said.

2. Katniss’s archery skills are real. Twenty-one-year-old Lawrence trained with Olympic archer Khatuna Lorig. “She shot about 100 arrows a day on an Olympic-style bow,” says Lorig. “Her technique was great!”

3. The movie used 35 full-time makeup artists. And there were more than 450 wigs on set to create the Hunger Games look, according to Linda Flowers, the movie’s hair director. For her freaky look as Effie Trinket, above, Elizabeth Banks was airbrushed with pale pink foundation and had a different eye makeup design for each outfit. Katniss was lower-maintenance—it took only about 20 minutes a day to create her signature braid.

4. Suzanne Collins got her start in TV. Little-known fact: The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins wrote for Nickelodeon faves like Clarissa Explains It All. Clearly her heart was in darker places. She came up with The Hunger Games “while channel surfing between reality TV and actual war coverage.”

5. You can buy these eyelashes! Makeup artist Ve Neill used these super-edgy false eyelashes on Katniss and Effie for the final ceremony scene. Into it? They’re selling at paperselfstore.com for $19 a pair.

6. There’s an angsty love triangle—just like Twilight. And just like Twilight, this movie’s gonna be huge. Hollywood analysts predict The Hunger Games could make more than $150 million in box office sales. Mega-fans: Advance tickets sales online opened up on February 22—one month and a day before the movie hits theaters. So are you Team Gale or Team Peeta? Sorry, Peeta—we’re Gale all the way. Bad boys 4-eva!

How can you become someone's team if you haven't seen the movie yet? I mean what if there is much more chemistry between Katniss and Gale?

Effie looks stunning, she's my favo character!

^Because of the books...? I don´t like neither actor but I´m Team Peeta :)

^Same here. I'll always be Team Peeta even if the movie screws up Katniss and Peeta's relationship.

Also, I have to add I LOVE Effie's costumes. She looks exactly how I thought she would... very over the top and completely out of touch with how people from the other districts are living. The contrast between Effie's clothes and the people of district 12 is very jarring and put's things into perspective.

that's a great spot.
and i love that we still haven't really seen any scenes from the games themselves, makes it so much more exciting to finally see it unfold on the big screen

Hahahaha that's cool. Regarding the trailers and promos..I'm SO Happy that they didn't show any actual footage from the games itself, or else it would ruin everything. Good choice. I'm so excited I have to buy my tickets now!!!
