You may have more luck in Shop till you drop area ...

I could try to help you, but don't really know jack about men's coats :p If no one chimes in, I will try anyway ;)

I've been looking for a coat, too, except for women's.

Try posting your question in the "Help Me Find..." thread under Shop Till You Drop.
http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29388

Also, if you do a search for winter coats, a few threads come up. Their advice won't be for specific coats, though, but they might give you ideas for what to look for.

Hope this helps.

Of these, I prefer #3 ... none of these blow me away tho. Budget for this coat?

I'm going to move this to the pinned "Help me find..." thread in "Shop til you drop" :flower:

Unfortunately, I'm not blown away by those either. Sorry! My favorite of the 3 though is the peacoat, which I already know you don't like  Agree with Ta-ta, relative budget might help and how cold does it get in your area?

Budget is negotiable. Just not one of those coats that cost thousands of dollars. I dunno what coat is good, that's why I'm asking you all. I just picked those to get things (hopefully) started. And it gets cold. single digits average, sometimes less than zero.

Marc by Marc Jacobs has outstanding coats for reasonable prices

These are some of my favorites...

I tried on the grey one at the store...and it is beautiful...but sadly too large for me. It had a more tailored look on and in person than on the runway, as most of Marc's men's clothing does. Also, the coat is a duffel, incase you couldn't see for yourself, which is a great alternative to a pea coat. I think it was around $600, but I am not exactly sure. The black one I did not try on, but it was gorgeous none the less. I am not sure of the price. I believe if you call the boutique though, they will do mail orders. :)

^ I like those :woot: Greatfire, I like the idea of a longer coat for you since it gets so chilly ;) I'll see what I can dig up...

J Crew, available with Thinsulate & in tall sizes, $230-270, very basic, comes in black or heather charcoal (might be a nice option)

Robert Graham, nordstrom.com, $278--this one looks kinda cool, but is it the model?

$595, Hugo Boss, neimanmarcus.com (description uncertain whether this is charcoal or chocolate)

turist black w/ leather piping, neimanmarcus.com, $995, starting to look a little sleeker

Goodness, I'm starting to think men's coats are a bit boring! Like the last one best. Undoubtedly the guys can be more helpful ...

 Ta-ta hit all my normal stops! Good picks ;)

Here's a link to Saks Men's Outerwear, too. They range from $250 to $2400. I particularly like the 1st two Cole Haan's for an all around basic. I also love all the Hugo Boss coats on page 2 and I adore the Burberry military coat

I've been looking at those you guys suggested.. man, are they nice!

I looked around at saks, and I really like this one: http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail_STL.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446125751&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574490688365&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395222441&site_refer=AFF001&bmUID=1128448722036&DCLKSLOT=6

What do you think? I am not gonna buy it, but I'm trying to see if my "eye" is becoming more focused.

Yes, I like, but you said wool :hardhead: I found some suede I liked, but didn't post for that reason ;)

Followed Curious's link and whoa, I love this Theory peacoat ($595)--and I don't like peacoats usually either:

And I also really like the Margiela mb posted. None of these are bad prices for a coat. As I've mentioned before, I've had my Burberry trench for almost 20 years & still going strong. A good coat is well worth dropping $$$ on.

This was discussed before, and the final decision was that it's just another one of her vintage bags.
