Identify the maker of this bag please?

Hi, I can't find out who made this bag. It is brown suede, lined with leather, which is stamped Maroquinerie and Mode de Paris. It has four gold metal rings on each side of the shoulder straps.

well i believe "Maroquinerie" is the name of the manufacturer of the bag and "mode du paris" is made in paris....i found this online, so i think your bag is from a good quality leather handbag firm in paris that makes classic styles that dont cost as much as designer bags. hope this helps:

So, you have seen the bag of your life (at least for this season) in a department store or a boutique but you hesitate as it is slightly above your budget ? Pay a visit to La Marorquinerie Parisienne (LMP for short). Here you can find (and not only during the sales period) branded articles (not Haute Couture or Vuitton but Lancel, Longchamp, Pourchet, Le Tanneur, Delsey, Mandarina Duck, etc...) for prices 15 to 20% under what you can get at Printemps or Galeries Lafayette or the Brands' stores. To earn your discount, you have to walk trough an archway right from the luggage shop at street level, to take the stairs up to the second floor (no lift). The shop consists of 2 flats linked by a small spiralling stair. You have to ask an attendant to show you the goods. After chosing you are given a ticket and a plastic number and have to pay at a central cash register to get your purchase. It's a bit long and very old fashioned but worth it. PS : the price displayed is BEFORE discount (10 to 20 %). PPS : The stores applies the direct VAT recovery for items to be taken outside of EU.

Thanks jun3machina, I have been doing research on this bag for a couple of weeks now and have found out that Maroquinerie means leather store in French and is widely used throughout Europe to describe any store that sells leather goods. La Maroquinerie Parisienne sell many different brands of bags, but do not manufacture their own brand.

I should have said in my first post that the lining is stamped randomly, in many places with the word Maroquinerie and Mode de Paris (the A of Paris being an Eiffel Tower). It is difficult to photograph, but I have had a go.

I believe the capital T on the logo will be the actual manufacturer's logo.

^The "T" is in the style of the Tod's logo, with really similar font, except on a real Tod's whatever that thing on the top of the T is is actually along the side of it. I think that, plus the fact that you describe the the "a" has an eiffel tower around it, shows it's just one of the many bags you can find at parisian souvenir shops.

So this is really difficult to see from the pic and the fact that she's wearing a white sweater with a white bag....but what is this?? Clearly, it's Marc Jacobs from the little triangle and ring in the side panel, but what hobo-like quilted bag does he have?? I only know the banana hobo one and that I swear as a chain strap, not a full leather one like this one....hmmm....

I found out that it was made special for her. They will not have that bag with the leather strap for sale. They only have the regular chain strap (banana hobo) and it is on sale in stores now and has been for some time. I just ordered it and I am going to take it to Artbag to have a strap put on.

Can you tell me what boutique you have been in contact with? I have been trying to figure this out for some time now. When I spoke to the manager he said there is no bag that exists with that strap, only the chain and that she/Rachel had it custom done.

the manager you've been talking to doesn't know what he's talking about. why would they go to the trouble and expense of custom making one bag? stupid SAs drive me crazy. anyway, try the mj store in san francisco, (415) 362-6500. like i said, they only have it in black and ivory, are expecting it in camel later. good luck!

Sorry this is off-topic but there are clueless SAs working all over the place. I went to the MJ boutique in Boston sometime in late Jan/early Feb and they only had maybe 1/3 of the spring styles out. I asked the girl there when the rest would be coming in, and she assured me they had gotten in everything for spring already, what was out was what existed and they weren't getting more spring styles. I wanted to smack her on the head and be like, just look at your own damm company's website, there are at least 10 more styles you don't have here yet!! Sure enough, went back last week and it's an entirely different store...
