i dont like the rug either, but i think for that kind of style mix it works quite well! the surface of the desk in the last pic on the other hand... ^_^

I like the rug... I've been really into faux animal rugs lately (I have the Ikea faux sheepskin rug in my room, love it), haha but I'm also from colorado where things are very nature/western inspired. :D

any more info about him, empaulio?
i like the scene with the long mirror and bowls
so many materials.. i wonder if he's using different materials or if like the wall might just be a faux finish.

Sorry for the late reply Gius Joseph Dirand has done several projects including a hotel.
One of the images I included in my original post was of somebody's personal residence.

He has also worked on the interior of some of the Rick Owens boutiques.
As far as i know the materials look to be concrete, marble/stone. I love the raw feel of his interiors. I like the look of that bathroom too with the long mirror and bowls, it has such an industrial cold feel

More images of his creations can be found on his website: www.josephdirand.com

I love the earthy/urban feel of this home

Roman & Williams is the partnership behind the New York outposts of both the Ace Hotel and the Standard (they also overhauled the Royalton Hotel lobby not long ago). The design duo (Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch) lives and works in this loft in lower Manhattan; we like the slightly disheveled, curio-shop vibe.

thanks so much hanne! what a wonderful place.. the decor looks amazingly personal

Hanne, I love that! Thanks for sharing. :flower:

It's modern, but it doesn't leave me cold. This is kind of how I imagine my dream home to look like.

I really like that earthy/modern home. Like someone else said, the style is personal. I get a sense of the people living there by looking at the pictures.

wow the spaces in those most recent images are beautiful, and still look comfortable...like home instead of just looking like a house...nothing looks too designed, and it shows the entire lifetime of the people/person that live there.

thank you for posting those images!

^ that's so charming and rustic! don't those kind of shots just make you want to live a care-free, honest, happy, hippy existence?! you made me want to check out the blog; aesthetically pleasing is so sweet and dreamy.

From style-files.com:
At first sight you would think that this gorgeous house in located in the medina of Marrakesh, Morocco. But can you believe that this 6,000 square foot compound is right in the middle of the crowded streets of Venice Beach, USA?
The house belongs to fashion photographer Philip Dixon who was inspired by his trips around the world. He created this Moroccan retreat almost 20 years ago.

thanks so much again roxy, you really keep the thread going :flower:

i love the bedroom.. but for everything else i gotta say i like the exterior more than the interior, as far as i can tell from the last photo. all the other rooms make me wanna put flowers and cushions everywhere :-) nice idea tho to put that thing in the streets of venice beach..

Does anyone know who designs for Fendi Casa? Is is Karl?

i love all the sort of rough materials in philip dixon's house..

what the pots are made of,
the counter tops..
seem like everything's made of clay..

Just wanted to mention ... I used to work for someone who grew up in Pakistan ... he told me they routinely slept on the roof under the stars, and he loved it. He also loved going out in the rain
